About Us

Zimbrick European is home to Mercedes Benz and Porsche manufacture supported franchises. We are here to help our customers in anyway needed to provide them with a safe and reliable vehicle. Partnered with our manufactures we help our customers with their warranty and service needs for the life of their vehicles. Our shop is equipped with 20 passenger car hoists, 3 commercial van hoist, and 2 alignment racks. We have 2 tire installers and balancers along with a wheel straightener. We have 2 tool rooms equipped with manufacture specific special tools for use as needed. Our technicians have individual training paths that are specific to their brands and training level. Each path is geared toward continued education and new product knowledge. Manufacture training will consist of online courses that can be completed by the technician at work or at home along with in person training at numerous facilities around the US. There are a number of individuals at our facility that all have a role in helping service ever vehicle that come in the door each and every day. It is a great team to be a part of and everyday there is something new, different, and exciting.

  • Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

    We offer an online application form that only takes a few minutes to complete.

  • Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

    Typically we will call and ask a few questions and then set up an in-person interview.

  • What do your in-person interviews entail?

    Interview questions. Time to answer any questions the applicant has about our store, the job and Zimbrick Inc. Also a facility tour if time allows.

  • Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

    We perform a driving record background check for all applicants.

  • Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

    No hands on test, but questions are typically asked during the interview about abilities and experience.

  • After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

    It depends on how many applicants there are for a position.

  • Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

    This time can vary depending on position and number of applicatns.

  • Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

    Heated via used oil burners and furnace as needed.

  • What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

    Sprinter: 3 technicians, 2 advisors, 1 assistant. Mercedes Car: 10 technicians, 5 advisors. Porsche: 4 technicians, 1 advisor, 1 assistant.

  • What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

    Shop hours are 7-5:30 Monday thru Friday. Shift would be an 8 hour day during normal business hours.

  • What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

    Technician toolboxes are provided. All manufacture specific Special tools are inventoried and provided for use as needed. PPE items are provided along with gloves.

  • What type of break room facility is provided?

    We have a large breakroom with 2 full size refrigerator/freezers and 6 microwaves.

  • How many bays does your shop have?

    Mercedes car shop: 15 bays with hoists. Porsche shop: 5 bays with hoists. Sprinter shop: 4 bays with hoists w/ 1 being an alignment rack. 1 alignment rack is also shared by Porsche and Mercedes car shop.

  • How many repair orders do you average per month?

    Total Shop ROs on average = 720

  • What is your parts ordering process?

    Our Production Coordinator will have all pre-approved parts and service items requested and pulled for all RO's that come in each day. All additional items needed the technician will send through a request via CDK or ASR and then the Parts department will bill out the requested parts and place in the work order bins.

  • What is your policy on side work?

    There is no side work allowed as this is would be direct competition with Zimbrick Inc. You are allowed to work on your own vehicles as long as your name is on the title of the vehicle.

  • Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

    Yes! Zimbrick does a great job at continuous improvement for employees. From manufacturer training to in house job training, Zimbrick offers both.

  • Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

    Zimbrick has great career growth potential. Whether it is in parts, service or sales, there aer plenty of opportunities for folks to move up into different positions. There have been many stories within Zimbrick where employees have gone from an entry level position to work in manager or director positions. Zimbrick has active General Managers and Department Managers that started their careers at Zimbrick in a entry level position.

  • Can you describe your performance review process?

    Zimbrick managers have monthly one-on-ones with their team members. There are also more formal reviews at least twice a year for employees.

  • What type of safety training is required?

    Employee safety is a priority at Zimbrick and training is offered for those positions / employees that need it.

  • Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

    Zimbrick has had many technicians go through the ranks in the shop. A new tech / apprentice is typically paired up with a mentor and or a team to help the newer technicians learn shop processes, repair procedures etc.

  • How does your shop get involved with the local community?

    Zimbrick has plenty of ties with the Madison community. One of the biggest campaigns Zimbrick is involved with is raising money for United Way of Dane County. Over the years, Zimbrick and its employees have given millions of dollars to United Way to help thos who need it in our community.

  • Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

    Zimbrick has been supporting and working with local schools in the area for years. Zimbrick managers have been working directly with faculty and students in the area to help promote and grow this profession. Zimbrick has visited students from middle school to college age students to share the benefits of getting into this industry. Zimbrick has had open houses, dealership visits, and many of it's stores are involved with bringing on and developing youth apprentices.

  • Where do you see the shop in five years?

    As in the last 5 - 10 years, Zimbrick workshops will continue to see growth in vehicle repairs. New technologies (electrification of vehicles for example) will be a bigger part of the work mix.

  • Is there anything else you’d like to mention about career development and community?

    Zimbrick is always looking for ways to partner with and be a part of development of the industry we serve. .

  • A Level Technician
    Pay Range: $50,000 - $90,000/year

    An A level tech would be equal to a Master Level Technician - this is what we have at Zimbrick European. At this point a Master Level tech can work on just about everything and diagnose vehicles no matter the issue. A Master Level Technician will have completed many hours of manufacturer and product training along with logged many hours in the shop.

  • B Level Technician
    Pay Range: $48,000 - $60,000/year

    An B level tech would be equal to an Intermediate Level Technician - this is what we have at Zimbrick European. At this point a Intermediate Level tech can work on more common repairs and more common diagnosis. A Intermediate Level Technician will have completed many hours of manufacturer and product training and typically is working to become master certified. .

  • C Level Technician
    Pay Range: $35,000 - $50,000/year

    An C level tech would be equal to an Entry Level Technician. At this point a Intermediate Level tech can work on more common repairs and more common diagnosis.

  • Lube Technician
    Pay Range: $35,000 - $40,000/year

    This is where you will learn the in and out of the dealership. This entry level position will help you learn how to become a tech. Items like learning to read a repair order. You will learn proper documentation, performing basic maintenance, basic repairs and being a team member.

  • Service Advisor
    Pay Range: $40,000 - $90,000/year

    Service Advisors are the liaison between the technician and the customer. This fast paced job is rewarding and can be challenging at time because it required the ability to multi- task and communicate well.

  • Student Tech / Apprentice
    Pay Range: $12 - $18/hour

    This would be a full-time apprentice position. Part-time positions are available, but will have a different pay structure - see hiring manager.
