  • Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

    Applications are available upon request. The application form is 4 pages long and typically takes approximately 10 minutes to fill out.

  • Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

    No, all applicants are screened first through an application or resume review process. Qualified applicants are then brought in for interview.

  • What do your in-person interviews entail?

    In-person interviews are conducted with the department manager and fixed operations director. During the interview general questions are asked to acertain the applicants level of experience and skill.

  • Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

    All applicants are subject to a background check and drug screen.

  • Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

    No

  • After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

    Employment decisions are typically made within 1 week after interview.

  • Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

  • Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

    Both the service and collision shops are heated and air conditioned.

  • What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

    Service: 6 express lube technicians (3 teams), 3 light duty technicians, 11 main shop technicians, 2 used car technicians Collision Center: 12 A-level technicians, 2 B-level technicians, 5 refinish technicians, and 3 helpers

  • What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

    Service Hours: 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Saturday Technicians work 9 hour shifts which include a 1 hour lunch break, and rotate Saturdays Collision Center Hours: 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Monday - Friday Technicians work a 10 hour shift which includes an hour lunch break. Typical technician hours are from 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

  • What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

    Service: Most Toyota Special Service Tools are stocked in house. Technicians also have access to major equipment necessary to repair a vehicle, including lifts, alignment machine, road-force balancer, balancer, 2 AC machines, 2 brake lathes, 2 twenty-ton presses, 3 tire mounting machines, all necessary fluid flush machines, and several floor and powertrain jacks. Collision Center: Technicians have access to major equipment necessary to repair a vehicle, including a two-post lift, a four-post lift, 3 frame machines, 2 AC machines, a tire mounting machine, a balance machine, 5 paint booths, 2 spot welders, and several other roll around welders.

  • What type of break room facility is provided?

    Both service and collision have their own dedicated break rooms which include bathrooms and rest area.

  • How many bays does your shop have?

    Service: 27 bays Collision Center: 17 bays

  • How many repair orders do you average per month?

    Service: Roughly 2,300 per month Collision Center: Roughly 200 per month

  • What is your parts ordering process?

    Service: Parts are ordered at the back counter of our parts department Collision Center: Parts orders are submitted by the estimators to our parts department Parts are received at the earliest point possible

  • What is your policy on side work?

    No side work allowed in the shop. Personal and family vehicles may be worked on with management approval.

  • Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

    All Toyota technicians are required to go through an ongoing certification process. Every year a plan is set by the department manager to continue education, either online or at a state of the art Toyota facility. Opportunities to obtain advanced certifications are provided and obtaining certifications is encouraged. Technicians that are inexperienced are encouraged to grow their certification level throughout their tenure. Yokem provides the lodging, travel and incidental reimbursement while employees are out of town for schooling purposes.

  • Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

    The possibilities for continued career growth are great at Yokem. Most of our promotions are from within. Through hard work and training, employees can move into any position within the dealership.

  • Can you describe your performance review process?

    Formal performance reviews are not given. However, management will periodically counsel employees and set up certification goals if the employee wants to grow their skillset.

  • What type of safety training is required?

    Safety training is provided to each employee dependant on the area of the shop which they are working. Additionally, Yokem provides annual training on several saftey related items.

  • Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

    Each shop (Express Maintenance, Vehicle Repair, and Collision Center) has its own shop foreman, who is responsible for mentoring and teaching new technicians. Additionally, technicians who desire to learn more about their trade are paired with one of our Toyota Master Technicians while they complete their certifications.

  • How does your shop get involved with the local community?

    As a 51 year old business, Yokem is an ever present name in the Community. We sponsor many events around the City of Shreveport and donate to many charities.

  • Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

    With the help of Toyota, we perform annual recruitment seminars with the local vocational colleges.

  • Where do you see the shop in five years?

    The automotive industry is always expanding, and Yokem's goal is to expand with the industry. We are currently in the planning phase of a service department remodel and will be performing a similar remodel to the body shop in the future.

  • A Level Technician
    Pay Range: $50,000 - $65,000/year

    Our master technicians are paid on a flat-rate scale and expected to flag at least as many hours as they are clocked in.

  • B Level Technician
    Pay Range: $40,000 - $50,000/year

    Line technicians are paid on flat rate and are expected to flag at least as many hours as they are clocked in. Most of our technicians flag 42 - 50 hours per week.

  • C Level Technician
    Pay Range: $35,000 - $40,000/year

    Line technicians are paid on flat rate and are expected to flag at least as many hours as they are clocked in. Most of our technicians flag 42 - 50 hours per week.

  • Lube Technician
    Pay Range: $25,000 - $35,000/year

    All lube technicians work in teams of 2, an "A" tech and a "B" tech. The A tech is the flagging tech, who flags all hours turned. The B tech is an hourly technician that can earn a weekly bonus based on the hours the A tech flags.

  • Collision Technician - A Level
    Pay Range: $75,000 - $100,000/year

    Our collision technicians are paid flat rate hours based on the estimate written. A level technicians are expected to flag between 65 - 90 hours per week.

  • Collision Technician - B Level
    Pay Range: $50,000 - $65,000/year

    Our collision technicians are paid flat rate hours based on the estimate written. B level technicians are expected to flag between 50 - 65 hours per week.

  • Collision Painter
    Pay Range: $75,000 - $100,000/year

    Our collision painters are paired with a prepper. The hours flagged are split between the painter and prepper at approximately 70/30.

  • Collision Prepper
    Pay Range: $35,000 - $50,000/year

    Our collision preppers are paired with a painter. The hours flagged are split between the painter and prepper at approximately 70/30.

Health Insurance Offered Employee health is very important to Yokem Toyota, which is why we offer three affordable PPO medical plans through Blue Cross Blue Sheild of Louisiana: $500 plan: Annual deductable: $500 ind., Max out of pocket: $4,000 ind., Wellness care: No charge, Doctor visits: $40 copay, Urgent Care: $40 copay, Prescription drug copays, Tier 1 - 4: $7 - $55. You Pay $225.82/month $1500 plan: Annual deductable: $1,500 ind., Max out of pocket: $6,350 ind., Wellness care: No charge, Doctor visits: $40-$55 copay, Urgent Care: $55 copay, Prescription drug copays, Tier 1 - 4: $15 - 10% ($150 max). Dental Insurance Offered We offer dental insurance through Guardian. Annual deductable: $50, Calendar maximum coverage: $1,000 You Pay $30.30/month
Vision Insurance Offered We offer vision insurance through Guardian. Annual materials copay: $25, Annual exam copay: $10, Lens costs are paid after deductable is met, $130 toward contacts and frames.
Retirement Plan Offered We provide access to a low cost 401k retirement plan after 6 months of tenure. Additionally, we match contributions up to 2% of income. Yokem matched contributions vest at a rate of 20% per year for years 2 - 6 of tenure. (i.e. Year 2: 20% vested, Year 3: 40% vested, etc.)
Sick Leave Offered We provide 5 days of sick leave to all employees with at least 1 year of tenure. Sick leave is accrued on your hire date anniversary.
Vacation Offered We provide 10 days of vacation pay to all empoyees with at least 1 year of tenure. Vacation is accrued on your hire date anniversary.
Paid Holidays Offered We offer 5 paid holidays, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day.
ST / LT Disability Offered Short term and long term disability is offered through AFLAC.
Life Insurance Offered All employees automatically receive $10,000 in life insurance paid for by Yokem Toyota. Additional life insurance is offered through AFLAC and Guardian.
Uniforms Offered Uniforms are provided and maintained through a private dry cleaning service. $4 per week is deducted from each employee's paycheck to pay for the service.
