What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

On any given day there is 4 Technicians, 2 General service 3 Service writers and Owner

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

Hours- Monday- Friday - 7:30am- 5:00 p.m. Saturday- 7:30-am - Noon

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

We provide all factory and aftermarket scan tools, all large hand tools and specialty tools required to repair todays modern vehicles.

What type of break room facility is provided?

We have a break room with refrigerator, microwave, pizza oven and sink for washing dishes. The break room is also used for company meetings and continual education.

How many bays does your shop have?

11 Bays total- 1 bay is the alignment rack

What is your parts ordering process?

Parts are ordered by service writers or production manager

What is your policy on side work?

After work hours are available for repairs on personal vehicles or family members.

Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

We are a state of the art auto repair center. Our equipment is the best, always updated and replaced to accommodate todays changing vehicles. We are also located on one of the busiest intersections in Madison.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

We offer continuing education during work hours and after work hours. All training is paid by West Town Monona Tire. Technicians are required to have 40 hours of training per year.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

We always have career opportunities for the employee that demonstrates the "right stuff." We will also discuss advancement opportunities during performance reviews if that's an option for the individual.

Can you describe your performance review process?

Performance review is done annually. You grade yourself and your Supervisor grades you. Things looked at are productivity, efficiency, team contributions, and overall attitude, and career path opportunities.

What type of safety training is required?

Safety training is performed during onboarding process. Safety training is also provided when relevant.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

We at any given time have 1- 2 apprentice technicians. Technicians are compensated for time spent with apprentice technicians. They are available to answer questions, and work through repairs when time permits.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

We are very involved the community! We believe in giving back to the community that has helped support our business over the years. That's why we make donations to, sponsor and participate in organizations such as American Cancer Society, Childs Mercy Network, Dane County Humane Society, Food Allergy Network, Local public schools, Ronald McDonald House, Local Boy Scout troops and Special Olympics.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

Yes we work with local high schools and tech schools. We sit on the Youth apprenticeship advisory board, MMSD advisory board and Madison College advisory board.

Where do you see the shop in five years?

We are always moving forward, we embrace change and will always be a the forefront of the ever changing automotive Industry. In five years we will continue to be a leader in the automotive industry.

Is there anything else you’d like to mention about career development and community?

We have a contagious culture. We are family. You can elevate your career as far as you want, as long as you are willing to embrace continuing education, you have a hunger for success, being the best and above all else you never stop climbing!

Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

Yes we have application form. It takes approximately 15 minutes to complete

We do conduct a light phone screen if needed. We do a quick touchpoint on the candidates background, qualifications, what they are looking for and if we are the right fit.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

Interview is a casual conversation to get to know you. Past work experience, your strengths and weaknesses. Your goals for the future and your dreams. We review your qualifications and have a series of questions to see if you would be a good fit for us and we would be good fit for you. No pressure interview process!

A Level Technician
A Level Technicians are highly skilled technicians that have strengths in their diagnostic and mechanical ability. This level of technician typically has many years of experience and education. We view an A Level Technician as the highest skilled technician in a shop
Pay Range: $60,000.00 - $100,000.00/year

Flat-rate pay structure based on ASE certifications, experience, and tenure

B Level Technician
B Level Technicians are skilled in mechanical repair and, while not their specialty, have some diagnostic skills. B Level Technicians generally have a fair amount of experience and can be trusted to handle most repairs.
Pay Range: $44,000.00 - $60,000.00/year

C Level Technician
C Level Technicians are more of entry level technicians. C Level Technicians’ responsibilities typically include basic maintenance, alignments, brake and suspension work, along with other base level repairs.
Pay Range: $31,000.00 - $41,600.00/year

Lube Technician
Lube Technicians are entry level technicians that focus on routine maintenance such as oil changes, changing tires, and inspections.
Pay Range: $20,800.00 - $33,280.00/year

Service Advisor
Service Advisors are primarily customer focused and, as one of the faces of the shop, they are critical in keeping customers happy. Service Advisors are frequently focused on taking customer calls, relaying information to technicians, and selling repair jobs. Both technical and sales experience are helpful for this position.
Pay Range: $40,000.00 - $75,000.00/year
