GM will order all tires and parts. Technician will create the PO and and GM will approve and order. We work with Uber, and other parts partners to get the parts we need as soon as possible.

Everyone goes through TIA (Tire Industry Association) training upon hire. This training goes through how to repair tires, and setup for roadside assistance. When the program is completed technicians will receive their TIA Level 200 certification. We also offer refrigerant handling certifications that we will cover the cost of for A/C work on commercial trucks. ASE's T2-T8 we also cover and bonus are given with each passed certification. Vendor training is worked in throughout the year as well.

Opportunities are endless for the right person. We are happy to work with our technicians from an entry level position all the way up to an experienced A-Level tech. We don't stop there. If technicians want to work their way into a service advisor or assistant store manager position that can be accomplished as well. Growth within our company is a big part of our overall culture.

Currently we run annual reviews, but merit raises can occur during the year as well. Discussions during our annual review include safety protocol, sales, education, customer experience, and productivity. We also discuss upcoming goals and make sure we are following the correct career path.

We take safety very seriously. Every employee is given a safety manual at hire. Technicians are also shown where eye wash stations, fire extinguishers and safety exits are located. Precautions like pit netting, wheel chalking and safety glass are also a must.

Entry level technicians can be paired up with senior technicians to help them advance their skill set. They will work side by side during repairs for a hands on experience, and any additional questions about repairs can be answered at that time.

We participate in such activities as food drives, tractor pulls, ribbon cuttings with the Chamber of Commerce, and Christmas collections for coats, gloves, hats.

We work with tech schools and community colleges a crossed the country. We want to be a great place to work for technicians just starting their careers, and watch them grow within our company.

Currently we have 33 Southern Tire Mart and Pilot locations, and look to expand that to over 200 locations nationwide.

We provide a pre employment checklist. Things included in the checklist are employment application, authorization for a background check, a drug and alcohol disclosure and release, and authorization to release information. This process usually takes 10 minutes to complete

We will do phone screens and face time depending on the position and what the individual is comfortable with. Technicians are usually screened by the stores General Manager, while General Managers are screened by the owners.

Explaining our business and the culture that we look to provide. We also like to give the person a bit of background information on us as a company. Job requirements, benefits, pay scale, and career paths and goals are discussed as well.

Drug screens and back ground checks are performed. This can be done in as little as 24 hours.

There is no formal skills assessment. The majority of this is done through discussion with questions about repairs and certain situations. We will also take technicians out to the shop to shadow other technicians. Other questions may be brought up here as well.

Offers can be made on the same day depending on if the person is employed and what position is being hired. If not the same day usually within 24 hours.

This can be immediate or within 24 hours. Sometimes this can get pushed back if technicians want to discuss the position more with their family, or take time to think about it.
