  • Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

    The shop is heated and each bay has its own heater. We also have large fans to help keep things cool.

  • What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

    Total of 8 people: The owner Service Manager 2 service writers 3 Technicians Weekend Manager

  • What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

    Scheduled Shop hours; Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Shop opens at 7:00 AM and Cashiers leave at 9:00 PM, so Technicians can arrive earlier and stay later.

  • What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

    Snap-On ZEUS scan tool, new Alignment machine, on vehicle brake lathe, A/C machine, tire Tire & balancing machine, several flushing machines, Bearing press kits, Mitchell, My Shop Manager, DVI inspections and Identifix and Tekmetric.

  • What type of break room facility is provided?

    N/A, but shop has beverages & snack available

  • How many bays does your shop have?

    4 Bays, plus 1 - Alignment bay

  • How many repair orders do you average per month?

    For the past 4 years, the average monthly repair orders; 334 per month, with an average repair order of $373.27, average labor ticket per hour 2.42 hours, with average ERO of $545.81. Total ARO including NCSI & tires is $255.80 per ticket.

  • What is your parts ordering process?

    Once repair order is sold, service writers call in or order online through WPAC, Car Quest, O'Reilly's, Auto Zone, FMP & Dealers for parts.

  • What is your policy on side work?

    Can work on personal vehicles after hours with notice to Owner.

  • Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

    Very fair, & honest owner, shop has been built on integrity & trust, Managers & service writers communicate well with the Technicians & customers. Shop is clean.

  • Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

    We will pay for continuing education through Advance Auto Parts and O'Reilly's. They offer night classes and/or ASE certificates.

  • Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

    As our employees experience grows and they become more productive, their flat rate and guarantee increases.

  • Can you describe your performance review process?

    Will review after first 3 months and schedule another review.

  • What type of safety training is required?

    Steel toed shoes and safety glasses.

  • Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

    If you have to train another tech or mentor them, then you will get a percentage of the repair that they are doing.

  • How does your shop get involved with the local community?

    We get involved through Rotary, YMCA, churches, and schools.

  • Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

    Most of our area High Schools do not offer Auto Mechanics classes currently. We have worked with Wake Tech Community College.

  • Where do you see the shop in five years?

    Bigger & Better! Our business has increase 10 to 12% in revenue past 3 years and expect to continue with Managers, Service writers and Technicians pay increase over the years.

  • Is there anything else you’d like to mention about career development and community?

    no

  • Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

    Yes, it takes about 15 minutes to complete.

  • Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

    Yes, I would ask a couple of brief questions about candidate experience and what position their seeking, have the candidate email his resume, than would schedule an in person interview at a convenient time that works for both of us at my shop.

  • What do your in-person interviews entail?

    Talk about their experience, training, tool collection, job history and ask for references.

  • Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

    No drug testing, but there is a Personality Tendencies quick test (18 questions).

  • Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

    No

  • After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

    A few days

  • Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

    If I like the potential candidate, could be hired immediately, I may want to call some reference, but usually in a day or two. If hired, I would expect that if the candidate is working, they will need to provide a 2 week notice to previous employer. I would pay to have tool box picked up and delivered to my shop.

  • Is there anything else you’d like to mention about your hiring process?

  • A Level Technician
    Pay Range: $60,000 - $70,000/year

    Flat rate, Negotiable, with weekly Guarantee, Plus performance bonuses.

  • B Level Technician
    Pay Range: $50,000 - $60,000/year

    Flat rate, Negotiable with weekly guarantee. An experienced, productive Technician will make top pay!

  • C Level Technician
    Pay Range: $34,000 - $38,000/year

    Flat rate is Negotiable, An experienced, productive Technician will make top pay! With weekly Guarantee.

  • Lube Technician
    Pay Range: $26,000 - $30,000/year ($12.50 - $14.42/hr)
    ($12.50 - $14.42/hr)

    About $15/hour plus overtime, or $22/hour flat-rate with hours guarantee
