Hiring Process
  • Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

    Our shop is heated with radiant heating as well as a large volume air handler. Due to mild conditions in West Michigan during the summer months, the need for Air Conditioning has never proved necessary.

  • What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

    We have a total technician count of 25+ including our express team and dedicated pre-owned technicians.

  • What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

    Our main shop technicians work 7am-5pm Mon-Fri and are on a rotating schedule from 8am-2pm Saturdays (one every four). We provide a four day work week for our Express Team, which provides each express teammate a five-day weekend every three weeks.

  • What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

    All Honda (manufacturer) Special tools are provided at no cost. All necessary Express Shop tools are provided at no cost. Additionally, we have provided our shop with a new Hunter Alignment System in early 2020, as well as new balancers, tire changers and on-car lathes within the last 2 years. We also have provide several laptops to utilize Honda's HDS system. Additionally, we have BG Product machines and three A/C machines, including one purchased in 2021.

  • What type of break room facility is provided?

    Large climate controlled, quiet, break room equipped with a refrigerator, microwave and sink.

  • How many bays does your shop have?

    We have a total of 30 working bays including 29 lifts. Two dedicated Express lifts and three dedicated pre-owned lifts.

  • How many repair orders do you average per month?

    We average between 2800-3400 repair orders per month. Approximately 80-85% of which are internal and customer repair orders. Leaving a small percentage of warranty work.

  • What is your parts ordering process?

    Parts can be ordered and processed by our Parts Counter Professionals, either in-person or via our DMS messaging.

  • What is your policy on side work?

    We will allow side work on a case by case basis, however only when authorized by a manager and the vehicle must be owned by the technician or his/her family.

  • Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

    We offer a Career Development Program to hand-selected candidates and provide a tool assistance and tuition reimbursement to individuals within the program.

  • Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

    Future opportunities include being promoted to technician, master technician, shop foreman, service advisor, parts counter and eventually management to the right candidates.

  • Can you describe your performance review process?

    Annual reviews provided.

  • What type of safety training is required?

    As needed

  • Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

    We have a dedicated shop foreman that works with all technicians on a daily basis. Training and coaching is ongoing and will provide all technicians the opportunity to grow and learn in a stress-free environment.

  • How does your shop get involved with the local community?

    We work closely with a local Technical Career Center that caters to high school students.

  • Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

  • Where do you see the shop in five years?

    We are completely dedicated to growing our technicians and see our department filled with young, growing technicians.

  • Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

    We have a quick application form on our website that only takes a few minutes to fill out. All of which are sent directly to hiring managers.

  • Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

    We will always review and screen candidates prior to an in-person meeting.

  • What do your in-person interviews entail?

    Generally speaking, very stress-free and will typically include a tour of our department. We mostly want to get to know the person.

  • Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

    Yes. Once a candidate has been offered a position and accepted, we submit a background and driving record screening. Additionally, a four panel pre-employment drug screening is required.

  • Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

    N/A

  • After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

    We typically make our decision within 24 hours.

  • Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

    Typically we can offer, screen and on-board a new hire in less than three weeks.

  • A Level Technician
    Pay Range: $50,000 - $150,000/year

    We provide transparent, straightforward competitive technician pay plans. All pay plans are hourly and/or flat rate, based on industry and brand experience, combined with state and OEM certifications.

  • B Level Technician
    Pay Range: $50,000 - $150,000/year

    We provide transparent, straightforward competitive technician pay plans. All pay plans are hourly and/or flat rate, based on industry and brand experience, combined with state and OEM certifications.

  • Lube Technician
    Pay Range: $31,200 - $34,320/year ($15.00 - $16.50/hr)
    ($15.00 - $16.50/hr)

    All Express Lube Technicians are paid hourly and will be provided with hands-on training with an experienced main shop technician. Additionally, all necessary tools for our Express team are provided.

Health Insurance Offered We offer multiple options for Health Care Benefits catered to our team members to allow each member to select what makes the most sense for them and their family.
Dental Insurance Offered We provide dental insurance coverage for our full-time employees who elect it. Coverage normally begins on the first of the month following your completion of sixty (60) days of employment with us.
Vision Insurance Not Offered
Retirement Plan Offered We provide an excellent 401(k) retirement savings plan for all employees who have attained the minimum age and service requirements. Eligible employees may contribute a portion of their income to their retirement account on a “pre-tax” basis.
Sick Leave Offered Sick days are considered part of our PTO component.
Vacation Offered At the beginning of each anniversary year (“benefit year”), eligible employees will be provided with the following PTO amounts: After one (1) year of continuous service: 1 week / 40 hours After two (2) years of continuous service: 2 weeks / 80 hours Employees who have completed ninety (90) days of continuous employment but have not completed one (1) year of employment will receive a pro-rated amount of PTO for use during their first year of employment.
Paid Holidays Offered Full-time employees are eligible for holiday pay if one of the following holidays falls on a day you are normally scheduled to work: New Year’s Day Memorial Day Fourth of July Labor Day Thanksgiving Day Christmas Day
ST / LT Disability Offered We strongly encourage employees to enroll in the disability insurance program. This is an excellent program that provides income to you in the event that illness or injury prevents you from working. You may obtain additional information about the program through the Payroll Coordinator. For specific details concerning eligibility and coverage, please be sure to consult the insurance contract itself.
Life Insurance Offered We provide life insurance coverage for our full-time employees who elect the group health coverage. Coverage normally begins on the first of the month following your completion of ninety (90) days of employment with us.
Uniforms Offered Uniforms are provided at no charge to all technicians.
Other Offered We offer various activities for our staff, including Food Trucks, West Michigan Whitecaps (Detroit Tigers affiliate), Griffins Hockey games (Detroit Red Wings affiliate). Not to mention, we awarded a handful of team members a suite for a Lions game for winners of a two month competition.
