As a Mechanic, the progression usually flows from a C-Tech to a B-Tech and then on to an A-Tech. Depending on an individual's skill set, there are opportunities to advance into a Supervisor and/or Maintenance Manager positions.
Our location has a skills evaluation form that is used annually to evaluate each Mechanic's skill sets, to determine which level a Mechanic is currently performing. Our Supervisors and Lead Mechanic work together to evaluate each Mechanic.
Our location trains employees with Safety Training that is specific to their job description. Topics like proper Lock Out / Tag Out procedures and Personal Protective Gear usage are integrated into our initial training and daily practice.
We have a Lead Tech with 35 years of maintenance experience to help train new hires. In addition, we will often pair up mechanics with other more experienced mechanics to assist in learning new types of repairs.
We have several opportunities throughout the year to participate in local community efforts.
We work with Rosedale Institute. They train their students in the areas of Diesel Mechanic, Welding, & CDL driver training.

Our application process is quick and easy. Apply directly to www.republicservices.com. Choose your city and state. All open positions in your area will populate. Pick and choose what suites you, click the apply button, upload your resume, add a little additional information and BOOM your done. It take about 5 minutes or so to complete the application. We do recommend using a laptop/Computer vs a phone.
Once we see you've applied, one of our Talent Acquisition partners will reach out to you and complete a phone screen. We will go over job details/description. Review resume and past employment experience. If applicable, we will proceed with scheduling an In Person Interview.
In-Person interview are a two step process. The first interview will be with the Maintenance Supervisors and Lead Mechanic to assess skill level. The second interview will be with the Maintenance Manager and General Manager to assess if the candidate will be a good cultural fit in our Republic Services family.
Applicants if offered a position will go through a background check as well as completing a drug screen.
No. The candidate will be expected to communicate their skill sets and answer any technical questions asked by the Supervisors and/or the Lead Mechanic.
Typically if a candidate does not meet our minimum qualifications for the position they have applied to will know with 24-48 business hours. If the candidate is considered for the position, he/she may be asked to come in for a second interview. If the second interview goes well and an offer is routed, sometimes the hiring manager may offer the position right then and there, on other occasions it may also take 24-48 hour.
This all depends on how quickly we can get the candidate in for an interview, if the candidate is asked back for a second interview. Then the process of the background ranges for everyone. Also, does the candidate want to turn in notice if currently employed. On average we like to say 2 weeks but can take a little longer depending on circumstances.
