  • Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

    Yes the shop is heated and has A/C

  • What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

    3 equipment technicians

  • What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

    Our store hours are 6am to 5pm Monday through Friday with limited Saturday hours during our busy season. We are extremely flexible with schedules and hours for our mechanics.

  • What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

    We provide grinders, compressors, jack stands and most general purpose tools, we do not supply hand tools.

  • What type of break room facility is provided?

    We have a break room with a refrigerator, microwave and comfortable place to eat

  • How many bays does your shop have?

    3

  • How many repair orders do you average per month?

    The varies depending on the size and scope of the work on individual machines, between 50 and 75 per month.

  • What is your parts ordering process?

    We have Smartequip web based technology for ordering almost all of our parts.

  • What is your policy on side work?

    As long as it doenst interfere with your work at Rental Max its ok.

  • Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

    We frequently have company provided lunches, our team works together in all facets, so if you need help someone will be available.

  • Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

    We have created a 3 phase mechanic development program which ranges from new mechanic to expert level. We offer on going training and development through internal and external programs.

  • Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

    Our company is growing rapidly and strives to promote from within as much as possible. Our current maintenance manager was promoted internally and we anticipate additional opportunities in the future.

    We have a quarterly and annual review process

  • What type of safety training is required?

    At RentalMax safety is our top priority. We offer in-depth new hire safety training and certifications along with ongoing in-person and virtual safety training.

  • Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

    Several of our current technicians started in a yard service position. They were offered the opportunity to learn from and and work directly with our more experienced mechanics to develop the skills needed to fill the technician position.

  • How does your shop get involved with the local community?

    We sponsor many local community events and encourage participation.

  • Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

    Not at this time but this is something we are working toward.

  • Where do you see the shop in five years?

    As our business grows the variety of equipment will continue to expand and the opportunities to learn and grow will be plentiful.

  • Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

    We have an online application on Rentalmax.com that takes less than 5 minutes to complete.

  • Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

    Yes - Our maintenance manager will conduct a phone screen.

  • What do your in-person interviews entail?

    General question and answer regarding the candidates resume, skill set and the opportunity. We like our interviews to be conversations and keep them informal.

  • Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

    Yes - We do criminal background checks and drug screenings.

  • Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

    Yes - We ask candidates to take a short written test to asses their knowledge of the various areas they will be working in.

  • After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

    Almost always within 24 hours or sooner.

  • Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

    Less than 2 weeks.

We Are RentalMax Video Duties and Responsibilities: • Responsible for the evaluation and repair of small engines, outdoor power equipment, and electrical tools. Keeps available equipment in good working order and presentable condition. • Responsibilities will include equipment repairs, maintenance checks, cleaning equipment, reporting equipment condition before and after rentals, giving equipment demonstrations to customers, and assisting with the loading and unloading of equipment. • Physical effort is required to move objects and service related tools that may weigh up to 75 pounds; frequent stooping, bending, squatting and kneeling are required to service and repair equipment. • Responsible for service documentation, parts ordering, and occasional travel to customers’ sites. • Will be able to develop the computer skills necessary to complete support duties. • Perform safety inspections on equipment and maintain a clean and safe work environment. • Flexibility regarding work assignments. • Ability to prioritize work assignments. • Personal and professional integrity. • Other duties assigned by the manager or supervisor. Nature of the Work: To maintain and repair all types of rental equipment. Electrical, carpentry and/or welding knowledge is preferred. Request ordering of parts, tools and equipment as necessary. Must be courteous, professional and knowledgeable with customers in regard to safety procedures and rental equipment. Working Conditions: Must stand for long periods of time. Work will be outdoors and indoors with general warehouse conditions, in which some work areas may not be heated or air conditioned. This job requires interaction with co-workers and with the public. This position requires frequent lifting and a significant degree of walking, bending and transporting objects of various weights and dimensions. May have exposure to chemicals, including but not limited to gasoline, diesel fuel, propane, kerosene and cleaning solvents. Propane is an obvious hazard; hence a sense of smell is required. Education, Skills and Requirements: • A high school diploma or equivalent GED is preferred but not required. • Vocational education or certification in preferred. • Prior experience is a plus. • Must be able to lift approximately 70 lbs. • Must speak English clearly and write legibly. Ability to speak another language is a plus. • Must possess a valid driver’s license. • Must maintain a professional personal appearance. • Must pass company drug screen. • Must maintain an acceptable attendance record. • Must have a full range of motion and dexterity. • Must be able to apply principles of rational thinking to solve problems. • Must be able to provide, understand and complete instructions furnished in written, oral or scheduled form. • Maintain a cooperative working relationship with co-workers. • Must be able to maintain a high degree of patience. Retirement Plan Offered We offer a 401K plan with employer match. Employees are immediately eligible to join the Company’s 401(k) plan if hired as a full-time employee. Entry date into the plan is your date of hire.
Sick Leave Offered 1. FMLA: RentalMax will grant family care or medical leave in accordance with the requirements of applicable law in effect at the time the leave is requested. 2. Personal Time: Full-time employees have five days each year to be used for either sick or personal time. The use of these days for either sick or personal time off is at the employee’s discretion. Pro-rated in year 1 based on start date
Vacation Offered 1. Vacation time is earned based on every 200 regular hours paid (excluding overtime in all cases). 2. Employees earn vacation time for the current calendar year based on hours worked during the previous calendar year. 3. Employees are not entitled to vacation benefits in the first calendar year of employment.
Paid Holidays Offered Employees are paid for all major holidays including New Years Day Memorial Day July 4th Labor Day Thanksgiving Day Christmas Day
