Hiring Process
  • Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

    We have an online application on Rentalmax.com that takes less than 5 minutes to complete.

  • Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

    Yes - Our maintenance manager will conduct a phone screen.

  • What do your in-person interviews entail?

    General question and answer regarding the candidates resume, skill set and the opportunity. We like our interviews to be conversations and keep them informal.

  • Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

    Yes - We do criminal background checks and drug screenings.

  • Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

    Yes - We ask candidates to take a short written test to asses their knowledge of the various areas they will be working in.

  • After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

    Almost always within 24 hours or sooner.

  • Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

    Less than 2 weeks.

  • Is there anything else you’d like to mention about your hiring process?

    We work hard to make the process move quickly and seamlessly.

  • Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

    The shop is heated in the winter and has industrial fans in the summer

  • What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

    Between 3 and 4 other mechanics

  • What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

    The store is open 6 to 5 Monday - Friday but the specific shifts and hours are very flexible with in that time frame.

  • What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

    We provide all the necessary specialty tools, techs provide their own hand tools

  • What type of break room facility is provided?

    We have an indoor break room with a refrigerator, microwave, pizza oven and TV

  • How many bays does your shop have?

    4

  • How many repair orders do you average per month?

    3 to 4 per day but the work is variable based on the size and complexity of the job. You will be able to work on a wide variety of equipment

  • What is your parts ordering process?

    We have recently added Smartequip technology so almost all parts can be ordered online directly from our vendors.

  • What is your policy on side work?

    As long as side work does not interfere with the regular schedule it is allowed.

  • Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

    We have created a 3 phase mechanic development program which ranges from new mechanic to expert level. We offer on going training and development through internal and external programs.

  • Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

    Our company is growing rapidly and strives to promote from within as much as possible. Our current maintenance manager was promoted internally and we anticipate additional opportunities in the future.

  • Can you describe your performance review process?

    We have a quarterly and annual review process

  • What type of safety training is required?

    At RentalMax safety is our top priority. We offer in-depth new hire safety training and certifications along with ongoing in-person and virtual safety training.

  • Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

    Several of our current technicians started in a yard service position. They were offered the opportunity to learn from and and work directly with our more experienced mechanics to develop the skills needed to fill the technician position.

  • How does your shop get involved with the local community?

    We sponsor many local community events and encourage participation.

  • Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

    Not at this time but this is something we are working toward.

  • Where do you see the shop in five years?

    As our business grows the variety of equipment will continue to expand and the opportunities to learn and grow will be plentiful.

  • A Level Technician
    Pay Range: $52,000 - $65,000/year

    Pay is hourly based on a 40 hour work week, we pay overtime at time and a half, after 40 hours.

  • B Level Technician
    Pay Range: $41,000 - $50,000/year

    Pay is hourly based on a 40 hour work week, we pay overtime at time and a half, after 40 hours

Retirement Plan Offered We offer a 401K plan with employer match. Employees are immediately eligible to join the Company’s 401(k) plan if hired as a full-time employee. Entry date into the plan is your date of hire.
Sick Leave Offered 1. FMLA: RentalMax will grant family care or medical leave in accordance with the requirements of applicable law in effect at the time the leave is requested. 2. Personal Time: Full-time employees have five days each year to be used for either sick or personal time. The use of these days for either sick or personal time off is at the employee’s discretion. Pro-rated in year 1 based on start date
Vacation Offered 1. Vacation time is earned based on every 200 regular hours paid (excluding overtime in all cases). 2. Employees earn vacation time for the current calendar year based on hours worked during the previous calendar year. 3. Employees are not entitled to vacation benefits in the first calendar year of employment.
Paid Holidays Offered Employees are paid for all major holidays including New Years Day Memorial Day July 4th Labor Day Thanksgiving Day Christmas Day
ST / LT Disability Offered We offer short and long term disability through Lincoln Financial Group. 1. STD: Employee Paid Plan - 60% of weekly salary up to $1,000 per week for up to 13 weeks 2. LTD: Employee Paid Plan - 60% of monthly salary up to $5,000 per month after 13 weeks
Life Insurance Offered We offer Life Insurance and Accidental Death & Dismemberment through Lincoln Financial Group. 1. Basic Life Insurance: Employer Paid Plan - up to $25, 000 2. Voluntary Life Insurance: Employee Paid Plan - $50,000 Guarantee Issue for New Hires, additional coverage up to $200,000 OR limited to 5 times your annual salary
Uniforms Offered We provide uniforms including pants, shirts and jackets which are regularly washed and maintained by an outside vendor. We also provide T- Shirts and Hats along with a full assortment of PPE.
