Mobile Automotive Service Solutions (MASS) is an automotive sublet provider located in one of America's top destination cities - Charleston, SC. We provide service to collision repair facilities, repair shops, and dealerships exclusively. Our service offerings include: programming, diagnostics, ADAS calibrations, and just about anything that our clients would otherwise be required to take to a dealership. We do not provide mechanical repair services at this time. We pride ourselves on our extensive collection of factory tooling and resources that allow our technicians to excel, and build an outstanding reputation within our industry. Focusing on automotive technology has allowed us to grow rapidly. Because finding a technician that is well versed in using various manufacturer scan tools is rare, we have focused our efforts on training that allows us to set our technicians up for success. Join the Team! Being a MASS technician means being part of an elite crew of diagnosticians. We work together to be the best in the industry! We put on a charity competition for our clients each year that benefits local orphans. It is a blast getting some competition stirred up between shops in the community! Everyday is bring your dog to work day! We have the largest selection of OEM ADAS calibration equipment on the east coast! Technicians are supplied with OEM as well as some aftermarket tooling and support to allow them to excel in their careers! Training is an integral part of our technician career path development. Aside from internal training MASS technicians regularly attend training conventions. Our custom built trucks are the best in the industry and come fully equipped as mobile diagnostics labs! Hiring Process
  • Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

    Depends on the location of the repair. The technicians vans are air conditioned and heated.

  • What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

    Majority of work is done on an individual basis but support is provided by remote login.

  • What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

    Very flexible shifts, but technicians would need to be flexible as well depending on when calls come in. NO WEEKENDS

  • What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

    Majority of tools provided, we will look at technicians tool set and buy whatever else they want and/or need along the way. All scan tools, diagnostic equipment, and OEM tools provided

  • What type of break room facility is provided?

    Usually technicians will take a break between jobs either in their truck or at fast food ect....

  • How many bays does your shop have?

    N/A

  • How many repair orders do you average per month?

    7 repairs orders a day seems to be the average.

  • What is your parts ordering process?

    Ordering parts for repairs is pretty rare. In a circumstance that it comes up we will accommodate and get them as soon as we can.

  • What is your policy on side work?

    Its ok as long as technician doesn't take advantage of it.

  • Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

    N/A

  • Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

    We offer on the job training with support from our in-house staff. We can remote into technicians computer and help will repairs, as well as educate along the way. We send techs to different trainings and seminars locally and nationwide, we also let them pick what they would like to do. We pay or reimburse for the program.

  • Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

    We are always willing to coach up and train technicians. However, higher end techs seem to be a better fit for these positions because of the repairs involved. We are happy to lay out a career path and help them hit their goals.

  • Can you describe your performance review process?

    We do a 90 day review and yearly review. Looking to add in quarterly reviews shortly as well. During reviews we look at what's working and what might need to be improved on. We also do short weekly reviews where numbers are reviewed.

  • What type of safety training is required?

    Nothing formal

  • Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

    It's more technical support where our team will log into their computer and see how things are going on the live repair. During repairs we can teach them along the way and answer any questions.

  • How does your shop get involved with the local community?

    Participate in charity contest at the end of the year for our local orphanage. We will look at other events as they come up through out the year as well.

  • Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

    Not currently, but we are looking to a couple of different options to get involved with local schools.

  • Where do you see the shop in five years?

    We are currently looking to move our business to a franchise model. This would include taking a platform for high level techs so they can jump in and make the money they would like, and have the tools they would need.

  • Is there anything else you’d like to mention about career development and community?

  • Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

    We are a small company so we will review resumes and make decisions based on that.

  • Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

    Try to phone screen since most of our applicants are not local so it's much more convenient for them. Also we will do zoom meetings even fly people out in later stages.

  • What do your in-person interviews entail?

    Interviews are done with the owner and lead technician. Discussion includes work history, background, certificates, career goals, and getting to know the technician.

  • Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

    No drug screens or background checks.

  • Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

    Nothing formal currently. Looking into putting a process in place.

  • After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

    A couple of days

  • Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

    Usually no longer than a week

    Pay Range: $85,000 - $120,000/year

    Base salary plus commission opportunities Will help with a career path and plan that will increase compensation over time Pay plans can be flexible after discussion with technician upon hire

  • B Level Technician
    Pay Range: $50,000 - $75,000/year

    Base salary plus commission opportunities Will work with B-techs and work them into an A position

  • Service Manager
    Pay Range: $75,000 - $110,000/year

    Base salary plus commission
