Hiring Process
  • Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

    The shop is heated.

  • What is the size of the team Iโ€™d be working with?

    We have a team of 10 Main Shop Technicians/Apprentices, and 5 Quick Lane Technicians

  • What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

    We are open Monday-Friday 7:30am to 5PM and 8AM to 4PM Saturday. Main Shop technicians are rotated out on Saturdays, and do not work every Saturday.

  • What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

    We have the fluid service machines ready and available for use. We have two Hunter Tire Machines and a Hunter Tire Balancer. Well Organized and Stocked GM Special Tool Room. Also have a power pusher to help move vehicles inside of the building.

  • What type of break room facility is provided?

    We have a break room, equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, vending machines, and a TV.

  • How many bays does your shop have?

    24 Total Stall including Alignment Bay and Quick Service

  • How many repair orders do you average per month?

    We complete 1100+ Repair Orders a month!

  • What is your parts ordering process?

    Currently, the technician advises the Parts Counterman the parts they need to order/estimate.

  • What is your policy on side work?

    We do not promote, or condone side work.

  • Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

    Yes we do, we cover the costs of Factory GM Training aswell as ASEs. We also have an Apprentice Program that is certified by the Department of Labor. We encourage training for our staff! We will work with our technicians and try to get them connected with the right training, based on the skills and knowledge they're looking to build. We will also help grow apprentice techs and provide on-the-job training as needed, along with helping them be successful taking certification classes.

  • Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

    Yes, we have programs and pathways for young technicians to grow into Master Technicians by going through the Chariot Apprentice Program. As-well as we have growth for master technicians to start helping with the training on apprentices.

  • Can you describe your performance review process?

    We have a continuous feedback process to help coach staff, while helping them learn on the job. We also review any needed training, and help our technicians grow and complete that training. Our shop also has a team mentorship atmosphere where you will be able to regularly learn from the senior techs around you.

  • What type of safety training is required?

    Safety is a huge priority in our shop. There is safety training offered through their factory training. We also follow all OSHA Guidelines. Our shop has been organized and designed with safety in mind.

  • Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

    Our Senior/Master technicians are always happy to help younger technicians figure out any issues

  • How does your shop get involved with the local community?

    We work with Ivy Tech and Schools around here to help start apprentices down the pathway of becoming a Master Technician. Also, our main focus is serving the customer and the community. Making sure the vehicle is fixed right the first time, to make sure the customer's transportation needs are solved.

  • Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

    We work with Ivy Tech and Schools around here to help start apprentices down the pathway of becoming a Master Technician.

  • Where do you see the shop in five years?

    We see nothing but further growth over the next 5 years. Kokomo is getting bigger and bigger and the demand from our customers for quality and timely auto repair is only getting greater.

  • Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

    We have an application form, and it takes just a couple of minutes to fill out.

  • Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

    Yes we do, just so that we can cover the basics and make sure it is the start of a good fit for both the applicant and the company

  • What do your in-person interviews entail?

    We Go over skills, and work history. Also go over plans for the future, and go over what we have to offer more in depth. Also, tour the facility with the applicant.

  • Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

    Yes we do. There are background checks, a drug screen, and an aptitude test.

  • Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

    Yes we go, and its a general mechanical aptitude test.

  • After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

    We strive to ensure that all candidates receive a response as quickly as possible. Average is within 24 hrs after interviewing with the hiring manager.

  • Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

    A couple of days normally, also depends on availability for drug screening.

  • A Level Technician
    Pay Range: $75,000 - $100,000/year

    Compensation is flat rate and based on experience and efficiency. As an A Level Technician, you can make well over $75,000/year!

  • B Level Technician
    Pay Range: $50,000 - $75,000/year

    Compensation is flat-rate and based on experience and efficiency.

  • C Level Technician
    Pay Range: $32,000 - $45,000/year

    Compensation is flat-rate and based on experience and efficiency.

  • Lube Technician
    Pay Range: $25,000 - $32,000/year

    Compensation is hourly and based on experience and efficiency.

  • Service Advisor
    Pay Range: $34,000 - $75,000/year

    Service Advisors will be working directly with customers and also backing up the internal advisor. Commissioned based pay. Must have customer service skills and be comfortable interacting with the public.
