  • Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

    The shop is heated. The shop does not have central air, but we do have two cooling fans to use in the summer.

  • What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

    Fully staffed, the shop is about 15 technicians across maintenance, service, and collision.

  • What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

    The shop is open Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm. Technician work schedule is Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5pm. Technicians use the extra time in the morning getting prepped for the day, clean-up, setting up iPads, etc.

  • What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

    Lyft provides all tools for technicians. All tools needed for the jobs we ask you to do will be available. We have a dedicated tooling professional on our team that supports all locations and can process requests for new tools. Technicians do not cover any tooling costs at Lyft.

  • What type of break room facility is provided?

    The shop has two break rooms. One has air-conditioning and includes a restroom. The larger break room has a kitchen area including a refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, and coffee maker. Both break rooms have tables and chairs Free snacks provided, like chips and beef jerky. The team can make specific requests for new snacks as well. Free drinks provided: coffee, water, soda.

  • How many bays does your shop have?

    The shop has two full service bays, one alignment rack, and five speed lifts for maintenance. We work in a "pit-crew" style setup, so bays are shared within the team — technicians are not assigned to one bay.

  • How many repair orders do you average per month?

    About 350 per month on service and maintenance, and growing. Although our shop is high-volume, our technicians are equally focused on quality and teamwork.

  • What is your parts ordering process?

    We can directly order parts using our parts advisor that works inside the shop. Most shops have very quick turnaround to receiving parts (less than an hour if parts are available.)

  • What is your policy on side work?

    We do not allow technicians to do side work using Lyft equipment or while clocked in with Lyft.

  • Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

    You will no longer have to worry about paying to upkeep your tool box or that you won't be paid while at work. Lyft offers an extremely competitive healthcare package and coverage begins your first day of work. You can enroll any dependents as well.   • Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

    Collision: We assist with the cost of I-CAR certifications for Collision Technicians. Service and Maintenance: We offer WTI training for service & maintenance technicians. In addition to these offerings, we're always evaluating new ways to support education and growth for our technicians.

  • Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

    Technicians can grow within their role, within their team, and beyond. Within role, we have internal certification pathways related to our standard operating procedures and goals. Within the team, technicians can be promoted or apply to more senior level positions as they become available. This includes leadership roles, and multiple shop managers at Lyft started as part of the technician team. Outside of their current team, technicians can pursue other career pathways at Lyft from operations to software engineering and anything in between!   • Can you describe your performance review process?

    Lyft has two official performance review cycles per year, one of which includes a compensation review for every employee in the company. Lyft is a pay-for-performance company and strong performance reviews can be reflected in compensation increases. Technicians meet with their manager at least bi-weekly to review their performance and work together on long and short term goals.

  • What type of safety training is required?

    Daily safety training is part of our normal operating processes at our shops. Safety protocols are displayed prominently around the shop — safety is our top priority. Within our standard processes, we have a safety standards that evaluate how safely our technicians perform their work, and the safety of the vehicle once repairs are completed.

  • Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

    There are no limitations to how much time a technician can spend learning — our entry and mid level technicians usually spend 10+ hours a month doing hands-on mentorship with senior technicians, including time walking through uses of specified tools like diag scanners. Our Technical Trainer meets with our teams regularly to determine what new trainings are needed.

  • How does your shop get involved with the local community?

    At Lyft, our mission is to improve people’s lives with the world’s best transportation. To create the best ride for all, we start with our own community by creating an open, inclusive, and diverse organization where all team members are recognized for what they bring. Our Driver Centers (including our shops) are designed to serve the Lyft Driver community within each market.

  • Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

    We regularly attend career fairs and are growing our relationships with educational institutions nationwide.

  • Where do you see the shop in five years?

    We see our Driver Centers changing the way cars are serviced in the future by laying the groundwork of success with training programs and standardization.

  • Is there anything else you’d like to mention about career development and community?

    At Lyft we're open-minded and can create more avenues to growth and development to build upon the ones we offer now. We'll jump on any opportunity to help our techs grow and learn.

  • Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

    Yes, apply at lyft.com/careers or via the form on our Top Shop page. A resume is not required, you can list your work history instead if you like. Please include names of employers and start/end dates for each.

  • Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

    Yes, you will speak with a Recruiter for 15-30 minutes to discuss your experience and the job itself.

  • What do your in-person interviews entail?

    We conduct interviews in-person or virtually. You should expect to speak with three team members for 30 minutes each, including shop leadership.

  • Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

    After an offer is accepted, a standard background check and DMV check will be run. You will not need to complete any tasks in person, checks can be initiated virtually by submitting your information online.

  • Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

    Our team will conduct a skills assessment verbally through interview questions.

  • After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

    About 3-5 business days.

  • Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

    This depends on the pace of the search, but we can adjust if you have fast deadlines or a short timeline.

  • Is there anything else you’d like to mention about your hiring process?

    In addition to having the right level of technical skills, we look for technicians that value teamwork and are open to working in a process-centered environment.

  • Automotive Technician (Mid Level)
    Pay Range: $47,839 - $47,840/year

    This role starts at $23 per hour. Our shop is NOT commission-based, technicians are paid via hourly wage. For any time worked over 40 hours per week, employees earn overtime pay (time and a half.) These rates indicate starting pay rates, there is room to grow within the role through annual performance reviews and resulting pay raises.

  • Auto Body Technician (Mid-Senior Level)
    Pay Range: $55,000 - $62,500/year ($26.44 - $30.05/hr)

    Pay rate based on experience. Our shop is NOT commission-based, technicians are paid via hourly wage. For any time worked over 40 hours per week, employees earn overtime pay (time and a half.)   • Automotive Technician Apprentice
    Pay Range: $35,568 - $35,570/year ($17.10 - $17.10/hr)

Health Insurance Offered Healthcare coverage begins immediately, on the first day of employment. Lyft offers four different medical plan options and employees can select a plan that best fits their needs. Employees can also enroll any dependents. Lyft's healthcare benefits are extremely competitive: low cost and robust coverage.
Dental Insurance Offered Lyft offers Dental Insurance through Guardian. Preventative care like routine office visits, cleanings, and check-ups are provided at no charge. Basic care, major care, and orthodontia are available as well, with some cost to the employee.
Vision Insurance Offered Lyft offers Vision Insurance through VSP Vision. In-network exams are $10 copay, and the plan has annual allowances for eyeglasses or contacts.
Retirement Plan Offered Lyft offers 401k plans through Fidelity.
Sick Leave Offered Hourly team members accrue 1 hour of sick pay for every 20 hours worked. This adds up to about 13 paid sick days per year.
Vacation Offered Hourly team members accrue 1 vacation hour for every 17.3 regular hours worked. This adds up to 15 paid vacation days per year.
