  • Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

    The entire shop is heated and cooled year around.

  • What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

    12 - 15

  • What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

    Monday - Friday 8am to 5pm

  • What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

    All Specialty Tools

  • What type of break room facility is provided?

    Break room with full-sized refrigerator, stove, microwave, ice machine, fresh water cooler, and grill!

  • How many bays does your shop have?

    27 bays Under construction on New Heavy Truck Shop with 12 Additional Bays

  • How many repair orders do you average per month?

    500

  • What is your parts ordering process?

    Fully functional experienced parts team with parts counter attached to the shop for convenient access. Parts will be ordered and received as soon as possible.

  • What is your policy on side work?

    Anyone who works hard Monday through Friday in our shop should not need a side job. Techs are permitted to use our shop and tools to repair personal vehicles as long as there is an open repair order on the vehicle.

  • Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

    We have in-ground and above-ground lifts. Our Shop Foreman is a 10-year Senior Master Technician and is at the disposal of all techs as needed. 4-Year Old Facility.

  • Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

    Manufacturer training paid for by the company, as well as travel expenses.

  • Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

    We have a formal plan of training & advancement for anyone seeking a career as a technician. Senior Master Certification is the goal for every tech and pay plans are designed to reward that.

  • Can you describe your performance review process?

    Employee Performance is Evaluated on an Annual Basis Based on Anniversary Date

  • What type of safety training is required?

    We have a 3rd party company who ensures the OSHA required training and maintenance of training for all technicians.

  • Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

    We have a formal tech mentor program for asset students and other less-experienced techs.

  • How does your shop get involved with the local community?

    Long-Lewis is well known in all market areas as a huge supporter of local non-profits. We have a 501(c)3 charitable Foundation that manages the dealerships' giving. The Long-Lewis Foundation has donated millions to causes that support their missions. We have an Employee Volunteerism program that encourages employees to volunteer their time to non-profits in the local communities. Cash is awarded to the Top Volunteers each year.

  • Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

    We have a formal plan of training & advancement for High School students seeking a career as a technician. We participate in multiple vocational school career fairs each year and work closely with our local community college automotive repair instructors.

  • Where do you see the shop in five years?

    As mentioned, we currently have a Heavy Truck shop facility under construction. We look forward to building up the customer base to ensure the techs in that facility never have an empty bay.

  • Is there anything else you’d like to mention about career development and community?

    Pay plans are designed to promote the achievement and maintaining of Senior Master Certifications.

  • Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

    Yes, we do have an application. It takes less than 5 minutes to complete.

  • Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

    We typically conduct a phone or web interview prior to in-person interviews.

  • What do your in-person interviews entail?

    Meeting with Service Management, a review of company pay plans, and a tour of our facilities.

  • Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

    Yes, drug screens and background checks

  • Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

    No, most of the assessment comes through the interview process

    3-5 business days

    Everything can be completed electronically.

  • A Level Technician
    Pay Range: $100,000 - $120,000/year

    After one year of employment pay plans have a bonus structure for each hour turned. Paid Weekly. Final Pay depends on experience and production!

  • B Level Technician
    Pay Range: $70,000 - $90,000/year

    After one year of employment pay plans have a bonus structure for each hour turned. Paid Weekly. Final Pay depends on experience and production!

  • C Level Technician
    Pay Range: $42,000 - $62,000/year

    After one year of employment pay plans have a bonus structure for each hour turned. Paid Weekly. Final Pay depends on experience and production!

  • Lube Technician
    Pay Range: $33,000 - $43,000/year

    Weekly bonus based on production! Paid Weekly. Final Pay depends on experience and production! Fast track career path to main line technician! Ford Certification Training paid for during employment!

  • Service Advisor
    Pay Range: $50,000 - $90,000/year

    Paid Weekly. Bonuses paid for production and Customer Satisfaction Scores

  • Student Tech / Apprentice
    Pay Range: $12 - $18/hour

    Train under senior master technician. Full tuition expense and travel expenses paid for Ford Certification Training. Ford Asset school located one hour away.
