We have cooler fans and open shop doors to create a comfortable environment. Heaters are available if ever needed.
There are 5 auto techs and 5 diesel techs.
Sop hours are Mon-Fri, 7am-6pm, and shift timeframes would be 8am-5pm. No weekends!
All latest scan tools provided; alignment machine; wheel balancer; flushing equipment; heavy tools.
There is a comfortable break room that sits 12 people, includes a refrigerator, microwave, toaster, table, and chairs.

We have 2 full-time Parts staff. Usually parts are available in our inventory, but if not, it will be delivered within the hour.
As long as it doesn't interfere with regular work, it can be requested on a case-by-case basis with management.
Our work environment is all about our team and supporting the community! We: -Celebrate birthdays on a monthly basis -Host an annual Christmas event for all employees (a party and Christmas bonuses!) -Plan quarterly outdoor activities like football games, baseball games, fishing, etc. -Support free annual car care clinic events for women, "Lipsticks & Dipsticks"
We partner with NAPA to send techs to training, which is highly encouraged. Techs are rewarded with bonuses if they get 10 trainings hours/quarter (40 hours/year). There is also a staff trainer who conducts monthly trainings, helping groups or individuals with skill building. We will pay for ASE certifications if passed.
We love to promote from within! Many of our techs have moved up in their careers with us. We encourage techs to become team leads, if interested, and offer career opportunities as they come.
We look at clock vs billable hours and have a difference goal, which is measured weekly. These metrics are shared regularly, and bonuses will be paid based on them.
There are monthly safety meetings. The shop manager will help point out safety concerns and address these with staff as a group.
The auto & truck shop both have a Lead Tech in these departments, to help mentor and coach younger/new techs. The Lead is paid for the performance of techs under them.
Kacal's is proud to give back to the local community. Our owner is part of the Houston East End Chamber of Commerce, volunteers at local livestock rodeos, is a committee member in the National Association of Minority Contractors, and a member of Houston Business Development, Inc.
We love working with community college students, encouraging them to enter the field. We have done a lot of work with students from UTI as well.

Yes, we phone screen to ensure the candidate meets basic requirements.
The in-person interview will be a meeting with the owner, shop manager, and store manager. This serves to find out more about the candidate's work experience, personality, and background. There will also be a background and reference check.
We performs background checks and reference checks on each candidate. There may be random drug screenings conducted.
A verbal skill assessment is done during the interview. There is also a written skills test, which is a questionnaire with diagrams, and will also help see how the candidate performs under pressure.

ASAP - this usually takes only a few days.
$35-50/hour; flat rate. A Level Technicians are expected to perform more advanced inspection, testing and service procedures with no assistance on all applications.
$30-35/hour; flat rate. B Level Technicians are expected to perform service and repair procedures with little to no assistance on most applications.
$25-30/hour; flat rate. C Level Technicians are expected to perform basic, routine service and procedures with assistance.
$15 per hour; paid hourly.
