  • Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

    Fully air conditioned climate controlled facility.

  • What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

    Currently – 67 technicians, including 41 Line techs, 8 Recon techs, 12 Lube techs, 3 accessory techs, 1 Window Tint tech, 1 Spray Liner tech, 3 Apprentice techs; 25 - Advisors including 11 Main Shop, 6 Express, 5 Fleet, 3 Internal (PDI, Recon, Accessories/Customs)

  • What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

    Mon-Fri 7am-6pm, express service until 7pm, Sat 7am-5pm, Sun 10am-5pm. Flexible Scheduling.

  • What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

    Built in Toolbox provided, all Scan tools, Specialized Tools from Chrysler, and Laptop.

  • What type of break room facility is provided?

    Break room includes refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, pool/ ping pong table, TV

  • How many bays does your shop have?

    86 bays in Main Shop, Fleet Center, and Preowned Recon Center

  • How many repair orders do you average per month?

    2,400 Customer pay average RO’s written per month is , does not include Warranty or Internal.

  • What is your parts ordering process?

    For Chrysler parts if ordered by 5:30pm will be in next day typically if coming from local PDC, we also try to source from other dealerships and aftermarket if available.

  • What is your policy on side work?

    Techs are allowed to work on their own vehicles in the shop, with an Open Repair Order and not during their scheduled shifts based on skill level. IE: if you are an Express Tech and are not certified for anything other than Oil/Rotates then that is what you are allowed to work on in the shop. Only with Foreman supervision can more work be done on your own vehicle. Side work on friends and family cars is not permitted; all work must go through the shop as a customer vehicle.

  • Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

    We have the Seven Slot Grille Café that serves Breakfast and Lunch with additional snacks and beverages available during their business hours. We have one of the largest customs and accessory departments in the country.

  • Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

    Chrysler offers a Degrees at Work program that offers college courses to Chrysler employees (also for employee's spouse and children) at no charge

  • Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

    Having one of the largest Chrysler Dodge Jeep Dealers in the Southeast allows employees the ability to grow faster. Service Department consists of Express, Accessories, Main Line, Fleet, Diesel, PDI, and Reconditioning. We also have the largest parts departments, and we also have our own Collision Center.

  • Can you describe your performance review process?

    Technicians’ hours are handed out weekly, we base raises bi-annual off factory certification level, productivity and fixed right the first-time scores, and also Chrysler's WiAdivsor 3.0 digital inspection platform usage %.

  • What type of safety training is required?

    We have out Complynet platform for safety testing and information as well as hold weekly safety meetings in the shop.

  • Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

    We typically have 4 apprenticeships always running in the shop. We like to use our productive younger techs to work with our apprentices. The mentor has an incentive to make sure the younger tech completes and understands training, procedures, repairs, and everything else that encompasses being a Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram certified technician.

  • How does your shop get involved with the local community?

    We regularly donate to non-profits. We have a great relationship with a local High School Auto Shop and donate whenever needed.

  • Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

    We are on the advisory board for HCC and also visit local high schools that we have build relationships with several of their instructors over the years. One of our Shop Foreman is from one of these schools that we have grown from our lube rack up those his current position. Parts Director and Fixed Operations Director also came from local High School Auto Program and still speak with Auto Shop teacher regularly.

  • Where do you see the shop in five years?

    Always looking for opportunities to grow and expand. More lifts coming in the near future. We have grown Customer Pay RO count per month by 20% since 2019. We run one of the largest Fixed Operations Departments in the country and we are only getting bigger. With our location and the people we have in place, the shop is set up for success for many years to come.

  • Is there anything else you’d like to mention about career development and community?

    We have an in-house technician trainer that is Master Certified and has been with Jerry Ulm for 23 years and is also a former teacher/instructor at technical schools. We not only train entry-level techs from our lube rack, but also our advanced mechanical flat rate techs, recon techs, apprentices etc.

  • Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

    We have an online application. The application form link can be texted to an applicants' phone and completed within minutes.

  • Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

    We like to speak with applicants over phone prior to the in-person interview.

  • What do your in-person interviews entail?

    In-person interviews consist of interviewing with one or two of our Service Managers, foreman and/or Shop trainer, depending on skill level and position applying for. We also do a walkthrough of our facility during interview.

  • Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

    Background checks, drug screening, and driving record check

  • Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

    No skill test is required. We will ask questions based on certification level to see applicants' response.

  • After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

    Immediately

  • Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

    5-7 business days. Can vary if candidate comes from out of state as those background check records take longer to receive.

  • Is there anything else you’d like to mention about your hiring process?

    We go over a lot during the interview process, and we are completely transparent on how we operate. You are a guest in our house and, just like any guest, we want to be sure you feel welcomed from the start!

  • A Level Technician
    Pay Range: $74,000 - $95,000/year

    $35-$45/hour Flat Rate (Rate depends on gas or Diesel certs)

  • B Level Technician
    Pay Range: $60,000 - $72,000/year

    $28-$34/hour Flat Rate (Rate depends on gas or Diesel certs)

  • C Level Technician
    Pay Range: $43,000 - $58,000/year

    $20-$27/hour, Flat Rate (Rate depends on work experience)

  • Lube Technician
    Pay Range: $31,200 - $33,000/year

    Express pay plan $15.00 hourly x 40-hour work weeks.

  • Service Advisor
    Pay Range: $0 - $0/year

    Service Advisor - Commission & Bonus Pay – 10% commission on all Customer pay, Warranty, and Internal labor gross, Customer pay and Warranty parts gross. Bonus is based on CSI score. Express Service Advisor - Commission & Bonus Pay – 14% commission on all Customer pay, Warranty, and Internal labor gross, Customer pay and Warranty parts gross. Bonus is based on CSI score.

  • Student Tech / Apprentice
    Pay Range: $17 - $19/hour

    $17.00 Hourly with in house training program with Mentor

Dental Insurance Offered DMO, PPO1 and PP2 plans available. Both PPO plans offer choice of using either In-Network or Out-of-Network providers.
Vision Insurance Offered Vision plan use In-Network or Out-of-Network providers, with copay.
Retirement Plan Offered 401K Pre Tax and Post Tax deductions. Morgan Auto Group Contributes to the plan as well on your behalf, 25% of what you contribute per pay up to a max contribution of $1,200.00 per year.
Sick Leave Offered FMLA available to eligible teammates.
Vacation Offered PTO time is accrued from the first day and eligible for use after 90 days of employment, 91-364 days = 4 days of PTO, 365 days- 2 years = 9 days, 2 years = 10 days, 6 years = 14 days, 7 years = 15 days, 8 years = 16 days, 9 years = 17 days, 10 years = 18 days, 11 years, and up = 19 days. PTO will carry over from year to year but will cap at 200 hours.
Paid Holidays Offered Full Time teammates are eligible for holiday pay based upon their individual pay plans. New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
ST / LT Disability Offered Short Term 60% of Average Salary or max 2k a week, Long Term 50% of Average Salary or max 8k per month.
Life Insurance Offered Basic group (AD&D) Insurance – MAG provides all benefit eligible employees with Group Term Life and matching AD&D in the amount of 20k. Voluntary Term Life and AD&D Insurance available for yourself, spouse, and your child(ren) on a voluntary basis.
Uniforms Offered Provided by Jerry Ulm Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram through Unifirst, there is a weekly $3.50 cleaning fee.
Other Offered Annual Tenure program: Technician – Employed 90 days to 3 years= 37.5 cents per flat rate hours turned. Employed 3 Years + = 50 cents per flat rate hour turned. Turn 55+ hours in a single week and that money doubles. Accrual starts 11.1-10.31, payouts are on or near Thanksgiving holiday each year. Annual Tenure program: Advisor- Employed 90 days to 3 years = .375% of your repair order gross profit. Employed 3 Years + = .50% of your repair order gross profit. Accrual starts 11.1-10.31, payouts are on or near Thanksgiving holiday each year.
