Job Description This is an C or B Technician position with the understanding you want to continue to grow as an ASE Technician to eventually a Master Certified Technician. You will be doing Oil Changes, Preventive Maintenance items like fluid exchanges, Light Repair, facility maintenance & extensive vehicle inspections. We will encourage you to grow at your pace to be successful for yourself and become a quality technician for Honest-1 Auto Care. We expect you to grow with us using our free online training to do more major work and become ASE Master certified. We offer a 5-day work week averaging 40 hours per week. Saturdays are required and were closed Sundays Qualifications • Have 1+ years of Technician experience or technician school training. Some ASE certifications are a plus. • Ability to grow and learn new skills. We want our technicians to become ASE certified. We have two master technicians plus a good training program to enhance your skills. • Must be self-motivated, • Quality orientated with speed and the understand the only stupid question is the one not asked. We encourage a learning environment. • Enough tools to do oil changes/minor repairs.   • Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

  • Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

    We do prelim interviews by phone

  • What do your in-person interviews entail?

    We interview you most times with a couple people. Owner or Manager with the Regional Operations person. We basically just want to find out who you are, what are your talents you can bring to H-1 and what you need to be successful

  • Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

    Background and drug testing per the insurance coverage used at their locations

  • Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

    At this time I don't think any location is doing this

  • After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

    Most time you will hear from us that day or a few days later. Some will be offered a position on the spot

  • Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

    Most will be on boarded in two weeks unless you are not presently employed, then it could be a few days.

  • Is there anything else you’d like to mention about your hiring process?

    We are looking for people that want a career, if you just need a job we ask that you look elsewhere. Being part of our H-1 family is important to us.

  • Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

    Location is heated.

  • What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

    We have 2 to 4 service writers, a service mgr., 2 to 3 general service technicians, 1 to 2 B level technicians, and 1 to 2 Master Technicians.

  • What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

    We are open 7 AM to 7 PM, Monday thru Friday Saturdays are 7 AM to 5 PM Sundays we are all Closed Most everyone works a five day week with Sunday off & one day off during week

  • What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

    Diagnostic equipment, some do flashing. Tool programs to help entry level technicians grow in the industry. Some have a shop lube tech. cart.

  • What type of break room facility is provided?

    We have a lunch area large enough for a table, fridge, & microwave. All locations have lockers for uniforms and personal belongings. Lock your items!

  • How many bays does your shop have?

    We have 8 bays

  • How many repair orders do you average per month?

    Our MN locations average 320 to 400 vehicles per month

  • What is your parts ordering process?

    Most all parts are order online, vendors are all set up on our POS system

  • What is your policy on side work?

    This would need to be discussed with the owner of the franchisee of the Honest-1 Auto Care that hires you

  • Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

    We are the dealer alternative, ECO friendly, 3YR-36K parts and labor warranty nationwide. (warranty work you get paid regular labor) we offer free loaners or courtesy rides. We say yes to business and have a very high car count & high customer retention

  • Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

    AVI on line training is a free benefit. Some locations require you to do 40 hours of training per year to keep you advancing with the industry

  • Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

    We are a growing franchise, 2008 we had our 1st location. We now have 15 locations in the metro area and are opening our 1st out state location in Owatonna MN. We want you to expand your knowledge and as you do your grow and are rewarded with flat rate increases. You can start as a tech, move to service mgr. than later in life become a service writer or manager. Grow at your pace or the pace of a growing business

  • Can you describe your performance review process?

    A 90 day review after hire to evaluate your on boarding and adjust status as needed. Then an annual reviews after the first 90 day. Some locations have weekly meetings

  • What type of safety training is required?

    We follow all OSHA guidelines and are H-1 inspected annually. Safety meetings are on a monthly basis in most locations. Some locations have online safety training that you need to take

  • Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

    All technicians will have a opportunity to train as business allows with mentors. All locations have certified techs on staff and most have one or more Master Techs. AVI online training is available

  • How does your shop get involved with the local community?

    Most all locations are invested in local business groups. Many locations work with churches & school sports teams to help with fund raisers.

  • Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

    Larry Allen Regional Operations Manager sits on thirteen school advisory boards

  • Where do you see the shop in five years?

    Our locations are continuing to grow in car count and volume. Of the 15 open locations their are 5 owners that plan to expand with more location. our goal for Metro area is 35 locations and 60 total for MN

    Pay Range: $60,000 - $120,000/year

    Flat Rate with very high car counts.

  • B Level Technician
    Pay Range: $45,000 - $75,000/year

    Free online training will help you grow to the next level

  • C Level Technician
    Pay Range: $35,000 - $45,000/year

    Hourly plus flat rate program to help you grow into a Master Technician

  • Lube Technician
    Pay Range: $28,000 - $35,000/year

  • Service Advisor
    Pay Range: $40,000 - $65,000/year

    Salary plus store bonus program. Bonus program is a team program.

  • Service Manager
    Pay Range: $60,000 - $75,000/year

  • Student Tech / Apprentice
    Pay Range: $25,000 - $28,000/hour

    We are members of several Tech. school advisory boards, Goodwill auto training program, and work with NEWGATE auto training center. We offer continual online training as a free benefit to help student apprentice techs. grow in the Auto Industy
