Hiring Process
  • Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

    Current Shop is not air conditioned, but it is heated. New State-of-the Art facility will be both heated and air-conditioned.

  • What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

    We have a Technician team of 20 + 2 Shop Foreman, 8 Service Advisors and 2 Department Service Managers.

  • What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

    We are open Monday-Friday 7:00am-6:00pm,and Saturdays 8:00am-1:00pm. Shifts are flexible and technicians work either 7:00am-4:00pm, 7:30am-4:30pm, or 8:00am-5:30pm with rotating Saturdays. Technicians receive a 1-hour lunch break.

  • What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

    All GM specialty tools are for community use as well as flush machines and major equipment (alignment rack, hunter tire machines, brake machine) this also includes some hand tools.

  • What type of break room facility is provided?

    Large breakroom with large fridge, refreshments (marketplace), microwaves and a locker room/bathroom with lockers.

  • How many bays does your shop have?

    32 Bays

  • How many repair orders do you average per month?

    Approximately 1800 per month.

  • What is your parts ordering process?

    Technician requests part via our electronic workshop software. If its not available in stock or locally, then the parts are ordered OVN, if possible.

  • What is your policy on side work?

    Only immediate family vehicles allowed in our shop, and only on off hours with a repair order written for insurance purposes.

  • Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

    Older, but well-maintained shop with supportive leadership and mentors. New 40-million-dollar facility will open in 2023 with built in boxes, and all brand new equipment.

  • Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

    We have a great mentor/apprentice program that offers shoulder to shoulder training and hourly pay + bonus opportunities while doing it. Paid manufacturer web and hands-on training.

  • Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

    We have many avenues for advancement to all areas of the dealership. Typical track (depending on current skills) would be Entry Level C Tech (Light Maintenance) , B-Tech (maintenance and light repair), Main Shop Apprentice (3 to 9 months), A-Tech Entry Level (Repair and maintenance tech with some supervision), A-Tech (complete repair an maintenance technician).

  • Can you describe your performance review process?

    We have monthly progress reviews and once a year formal evaluations process with pay increase potentials.

  • What type of safety training is required?

    Depending on experience, we have basic shop safety courses during orientation + monthly web training on safe practices.

  • Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

    We have a great mentor/apprentice program that offers shoulder to shoulder training and hourly pay + bonus opportunities while doing it. Paid manufacturer web and hands-on training.

  • How does your shop get involved with the local community?

    We support our Community with many contributions such as our Nebraska Humane Society donation drive, fundraising for the American Heart Association, and partnering with Chariots of Hope. We are active with our local high school and college trade programs and sponsor students and assist with clinics. Our Chevy location is the annual host of the All Chevy Show.

  • Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

  • Where do you see the shop in five years?

    Brand new State-of-art Facility coming in 2023. It will have the latest in technology to assist our staff with repairing vehicles correctly.

  • Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

    We require all interested candidate to complete an application at www.joinHH.com. Applications can be completed in approximately 30 minutes. After you apply for the role, our hiring team will review your skills and experience related to the qualifications on the job description.

  • Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

    A member of our hiring team manages each job opening. If you meet the qualifications and are selected to move forward, they’ll reach out to learn more about you and ask some questions.

  • What do your in-person interviews entail?

    Our Service candidates will either participate in a one-on-one interview with our Hiring Manager(s) or participate in a group interview with 2 to 10 other candidates and multiple Hiring Managers.

  • Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

    All candidates who are invited to interview are asked to complete 2 surveys prior to their interview. One on Hospitality Excellence and one Management by Strengths (MBS). These surveys are quick and help us see how a candidate may fit with the Team. After a candidate receives an offer, they will be requested to complete a comprehensive driving and criminal background check. All Candidates who receive an offer are required to submit a pre-employment drug screening. Depending on position, candidates may also be required to complete a pre-employment back screen and physical,

    Pay Range: $60,000 - $140,000/year

    Advanced Diagnostic Technician / Highly Trained From Factory

  • B Level Technician
    Pay Range: $50,000 - $70,000/year

    Repair Specialist / Maintenance / Mid-Level Stages of Factory Training

  • C Level Technician
    Pay Range: $40,000 - $55,000/year

    Apprentice / Maintenance / Early Stages of Factory Training

  • Lube Technician
    Pay Range: $30,000 - $40,000/year

    Entry Level Technician, complete oil changes and tire rotations.

  • Service Advisor
    Pay Range: $48,000 - $110,000/year

    Greet all Service Guest, meet and exceed daily sales goals and work on Gross Profit and CSI.

  • Student Tech / Apprentice
    Pay Range: $12 - $15/hour

    For those currently enrolled in an Automotive Trade Program. We offer an Internship, Junior Apprentice and an Apprentice Technician.

Health Insurance Offered H&H provides two medical plan options to cover you and your family. The plans provide the same coverage options yet allow for flexibility with different deductibles and premiums. Eligibility Full-Time Associates regularly scheduled to work at least 30 hours per week are eligible to elect medical insurance. Dental Insurance Offered We offer two plan options through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska. One plan covers typical and customary services; the second plan includes orthodontia benefits. Eligibility Full-Time Associates regularly scheduled to work at least 30 hours per week are eligible to elect dental insurance. If elected, coverage begins the first of the month following a 60-day waiting period. Eligible Associates may also enroll their: Spouse Children up to age 26 Disabled children over the age of 26
Vision Insurance Offered Eye exams are a great way to keep tabs on what is happening in your body. Your eyes are the only place in your body that provide a clear view of your blood vessels, arteries, and a cranial nerve, which can tell your doctor a lot about your overall health. Eligibility Full-Time Associates regularly scheduled to work at least 30 hours per week are eligible to elect vision insurance. If elected, coverage begins the first of the month following a 60-day waiting period. Eligible Associates may also enroll their: Spouse Children up to age 26 Disabled children over the age of 26
Retirement Plan Offered Plan for retirement by contributing to a Profit Sharing (401k) Plan through VOYA Financial. Eligibility Associates are eligible to start Profit Sharing (401k) on the first of the month following their one-year anniversary. You will be contacted via email to attend a Profit Sharing (401k) meeting prior to your anniversary. Plan Options Under this plan, you have the option to contribute through Pre-Tax and Post-Tax deferrals. Company match is reviewed on annual basis. For 2022, H&H will match $0.50 on the dollar with a maximum company contribution of $1,500 per year. How It Works Associates can contribute a percentage of their earnings to the plan up to limits established by the Internal Revenue Service. This plan offers the flexibility to change deferrals at any time.
Sick Leave Offered Paid Personal Time (sick time) Each regular, full-time associate is allowed 32 hours of Paid Personal Time. Associates. Paid Personal Time allowed may be used only for sick days, medical appointments, and time off to care for ill or injured dependents. Associates are able to use Paid Personal Time to miss work due to the death or funeral of a member of the Associate’s Immediate Family. Your immediate family includes your spouse, children, parents, brother, sister, or legal guardian. This benefit resets yearly on your anniversary date.
Vacation Offered Paid Vacation Time is allowed to regular, full-time Associates. Associates will received 40 hours of Paid Time Off (PTO) on their 1 year anniversary.
Paid Holidays Offered All full-time Associates will receive the following paid holidays. New Year's Day Memorial Day Independence Day Labor Day Thanksgiving Day Christmas Day
ST / LT Disability Offered Short Term Disability (company paid) When life hands you the unexpected illness or injury, we have a way to offer a safety net so you can keep your household running. Eligibility Full-Time Associates regularly scheduled to work at least 30 hours per week are eligible to elect disability coverage. If elected, coverage begins the first of the month following a 60-day waiting period. Coverage With the H&H Paycheck Safety Net,, you will receive 60% of your compensation up to $1,500 per week. Coverage begins on the 8th day of inability to work and provides overage for up to 90 days. What It Costs H&H covers the cost for this benefit for our Associates. Long Term Disability Illness and injuries happen, and sometimes it results in unanticipated time off from work. H&H offers both short and long-term disability through Guardian to provide income protection while you are unable to work. Eligibility Full-Time Associates regularly scheduled to work at least 30 hours per week are eligible to elect disability coverage. If elected, coverage begins the first of the month following a 60-day waiting period.
Life Insurance Offered Life insurance provides a safety net for your beneficiaries, and is a benefit offered through Guardian. Eligibility Full-Time Associates regularly scheduled to work at least 30 hours per week are eligible to elect life insurance coverage. If elected, coverage begins the first of the month following a 60-day waiting period. Coverage Options For Associates: Policies are available in amounts between $10,000 to $250,000, in increments of $10,000. For your Spouse: Policies are available in amounts between $5,000 to $125,000, provided the policy does not exceed 100% of the Associates elected amount of life insurance. For your Child(ren): Policies are available in amounts between $1,000 to $10,000, provided the policy does not exceed 100% of the Associates elected amount of life insurance. What It Costs Life insurance cost is determined by the level of coverage and age.
Uniforms Offered Technicians will be provided with two weeks worth of uniforms. H&H Automotive will collect a deposit from each Technician of $120.00. This deposit will be divided over 4 weekly payrolls or 2 semi-monthly payrolls, depending on position.
Other Offered Paid Maternity Leave & Benefits New additions come with time to heal your body and offerings under our medical plan and flexible spending accounts. Paid Maternity Leave Eligibility This paid leave is available to our full-time associates. Coverage Under Paid Maternity Leave, you will receive 100% of your vacation rate of pay for 6-8 weeks (depending on delivery method). Medical Plan Benefits Eligibility This paid leave is available to our full-time associates. Paid Parental Bonding Leave: Spending time with your newly born or adopted family member is important. We offer paid parental bonding leave to provide the time you need and want during this special time. Eligibility Full-Time Associates regularly scheduled to work at least 30 hours per week are eligible to elect disability coverage. If elected, coverage begins the first of the month following a 60-day waiting period. Coverage This paid leave provides two weeks of time off for the primary and secondary caregivers to bond with their newest family member during the first year after birth or adoption. Your time off during this leave is 100% paid and has no impact on your paid time off benefits.
