Under The Hood

Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

Currently, there is no air conditioning, but the shop is insulated which keeps us cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Additionally, we have a roof coating that also keeps temperatures down.

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

We currently have three technicians, two service advisors, and a facilities and parts coordinator. We also have an in-house bookkeeper and marketing director.

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

Monday through Friday, 7:30am - 4:30pm Lunch is from 11am - Noon

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

Tools are provided.

What type of break room facility is provided?

Lunch area, personal desk, refrigerator, snacks, coffee.

What is your parts ordering process?

Our shop uses a shop management system and all parts are ordered through that. The service advisor orders the necessary parts and works with the parts coordinator and technician for speed an accuracy. Our parts coordinator helps disseminate them and track them.

What is your policy on side work?

Side work would need to be discussed with management. Side work is not discouraged unless it is interfering with their responsibilities at Harrell & Beverly.

Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

We have fun! We laugh, we joke, we create long-lasting relationships. We care. We WANT you to succeed! We plan social outings and for our 65th anniversary we took the team and their families on an all expenses paid 7 day cruise!

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

We offer many opportunities for training. Employees who meet the requirements for training receive extra compensation. We recently took our team members to the VISION conference to learn new skills and bring new ideas to our daily workflow.

Can you describe your performance review process?

Performance reviews are held every six months in addition to monthly one-on-ones.

What type of safety training is required?

Safety training is determined and directed by leadership.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

Job shadowing may be available for interested students and those seeking a career in the automotive repair field.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

Not only do we provide quality automotive services, but we also give back by donating to several nonprofits and organizations that are close to our hearts. Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

Harrell & Beverly has had a long-standing relationship with Seminole State College.

Yes, we phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

In-person interviews consist of a welcome/introduction, a review of the job description and application, a review of our core values, and additional questions regarding the applicant's job history and experience.

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

We will verify the insurability of an applicant before completing an in-person interview. We will also conduct a background check. A drug test will also need to be passed before hiring.

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

Yes, this will depend on the role. We may ask applicants to perform a type of service on one of our shop vehicles to demonstrate their knowledge.

B Level Technician Pay Range: $45,000.00 - $60,000.00/year ($21.63 - $28.85/hr)

Consists of a combination of hourly pay, pay enhancements, and performance bonuses based on experience and qualifications

A Level Technician Pay Range: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00/year ($28.85 - $38.46/hr)

Consists of a combination of hourly pay, pay enhancements, and performance bonuses based on experience and qualifications

Service Advisor Pay Range: $36,000.00 - $60,000.00/year ($17.31 - $28.85/hr)
