  • Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

    The shop is heated, but not cooled.

  • What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

    This Mazda team is made up of 10 team members. 6 technicians including our shop foreman, 2 advisors,1 parts person and a service/ parts manager.

  • What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

    Hours of operation are: Mon - Fri 7:30 AM - 5:30 PM Sat 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM Sun Closed Shifts are: 7:30 - 4:30 Mon-Fri 1 late night during the week Saturday rotation (work 1 Saturday every 4-5 weeks)

  • What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

    Technician's are expected to supply hand tools such as socket sets, wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers, and small air powered equipment such as impact wrenches, etc. Our shop provides: lift, jacks, jack stands, tire mounting and balancing equipment, battery testers, diagnostic testing equip, Mazda special tools, Mazda diagnostic equipment, etc.

  • What type of break room facility is provided?

    We have 2 break rooms. 1 located above tool room in shop. 1 located off our sales department. Both have fridges, microwaves and seating.

  • How many bays does your shop have?

    We have 28 car/truck service bays and 1 alignment bay shared with our Ford franchise. 9 are dedicated for Mazda.

  • How many repair orders do you average per month?

    The last 6 months we have averaged around 400 repair orders per/mon.

  • What is your parts ordering process?

    We receive 3 orders per week from Mazda currently. Depending on which day the order falls, we will see 1-3 days (assuming availability is good at our closest depot).

  • What is your policy on side work?

    Bays are for customer vehicles only. Employee's are allowed to work on personal vehicles and related family members that live within the same household.

  • Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

    We are in the process of building a dedicated Mazda building. Completion is expected for fall of 2023.

  • Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

    Mazda has training opportunities to achieve multiple levels of Mazda certification. We do encourage and support tech's as they pursue that certification with paid time, mileage and over night accommodations if needed. We also support technicians who pursue ASE certification. On the job training is constant and supported with our service team leader (shop foreman).

  • Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

    We like to promote first from within the company. Anyone seeking to pursue a job change within the company or looking for a pathway for advancement will have the opportunity to inquire when positions become available.

  • Can you describe your performance review process?

    In addition to annual reviews, we also have weekly one-on-ones between our team members and the service manager for overall performance review and team member check in.

  • What type of safety training is required?

    We have online safety training as part of our onboarding process. We also have yearly required online safety training.

  • Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

    Our service team leader (shop foreman) is always available for mentorship and on the job training. We also have a very experienced team who work together and help as much as possible.

  • How does your shop get involved with the local community?

    Grappone has long been committed to supporting its community and the people who positively impact it. Our Grappone in the Community program supports our team members in their volunteer efforts while allowing them to experience the true joy of charitable giving. We donate at least 5% of our company’s net profit each year to charitable endeavors and are a long time supporter of hundreds of organizations from the Boys’ and Girls’ Club to NH PBS to Lakes Region Conservation Trust. In 2018 Grappone Automotive helped to establish a nature-based preschool at the historic Canterbury Shaker Village. Taking care of our community is not simply something we talk about – it is the final piece of our mission statement, and we wouldn’t be complete without it.

  • Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

    We work every year with local high schools and trade schools to accommodate as many internships as possible and we also have some team members active on trade school boards.

  • Where do you see the shop in five years?

    We anticipate tremendous growth with our embracement of Mazda's full circle walk around and digital service program. The addition of new building in 2023 will also be a driver for new business.

  • Is there anything else you’d like to mention about career development and community?

    We have an internal leadership program that takes yearly applications that our team of directors hand pick from for an 8 month program to build leadership skills for those interested in team building, leadership skills and training.

  • Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

    We have an online application for that takes only about 10 minutes to complete.

  • Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

    No.

  • What do your in-person interviews entail?

    The first in-person interview is with two direct managers who go over the day to day aspects of the job and to see if your skills align with what we are looking for. The second in-person interview is with two directors who dig a little deeper to ensure all information is accurate and the candidate is a good culture fit.

  • Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

    A pre-employment drug screening, physical, and criminal background check are required of this position. In addition, this position requires a valid driver's license and must be insurable through our insurance company.

  • Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

    We verbally ask about skills during the interview.

  • After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

    Within 48-72 hours after the first interview, the candidate will hear from us about a second round. Otherwise, rejection letters are sent to the candidates mailing address.

  • Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

    Approximately two weeks.

  • A Level Technician
    Pay Range: $70,000 - $110,000/year

    Using the flat rate technician system. Clocked time guarantee for worked hours.

  • B Level Technician
    Pay Range: $45,000 - $70,000/year

    Using the flat rate technician system. Clocked time guarantee for worked hours.

  • C Level Technician
    Pay Range: $36,000 - $42,000/year

    Hourly pay.

  • Lube Technician
    Pay Range: $32,000 - $36,000/year

    Hourly pay.

Health Insurance Offered Grappone offers full-time team members medical insurance through Cigna and your premiums are deducted on a pre-tax basis. Eligible on the 31st day from date of hire. Single Medical: $41.62 weekly payroll deduction 2 person and family plans are also available. Annual Deductible for Individual Plan: $1,300 Annual Out-of-Pocket Max for Individual Plan: $6,000 Low cost generic medication at a $5 copay for up to 30-day supply and a $10 copay for up to 90-day supply. All medical deductions, copayments, and coinsurance apply toward the out-of-pocket maximum.
Dental Insurance Offered Grappone offers full-time team members a dental plan through Northeast Delta Dental and your premiums are deducted on a pre-tax basis. This plan utilizes the national PPO Plus Premier network. Eligible on the 31st day from date of hire. Single Dental: $10.75 weekly payroll deduction 2 person and family plans are also available. Plan will pay up to $1,500 per member, per calendar year. Covered at 100%- Preventative and Diagnostic Services Covered at 80%- Basic Services (fillings, root canal, etc.) Covered at 60%- Major Services (dentures, bridges, crowns, etc.) Orthodontic Lifetime Max of $1,500
Vision Insurance Offered Grappone offers full-time team members a vision plan through Cigna and your premiums are deducted on a pre-tax basis. Eligible on the 1st of month following 30 days from date of hire. Single Vision: $1.81 weekly payroll deduction 2 person and family plans are also available. $10 exam copay Lenses are covered in full after $25 copay Contact Lenses- $150 allowance Frames- $150 allowance
Retirement Plan Offered The 401(k) Plan provides team members with the opportunity to invest for retirement by making payroll deductions on a pre-tax or post-tax (Roth) basis. Team members may contribute a maximum of 75% of their salary and will be automatically enrolled in the plan at a pre-tax contribution rate of 4%, unless a different contribution amount is chosen, or you opt out. If you contribute 4%, your match will be 3% 3% is the cap on the match Team members are eligible to enroll in the quarter following 500 hours of service.
Sick Leave Offered Personal time benefits are available to all full-time team members working 30+ hours per week. The amount of personal time available is based on your date of hire and hours scheduled to work per week. Team members scheduled for 40 hours or more per week will receive the following: if hired between January 1st and June 30th you will immediately receive 16 hours of personal time. Team members hired between July 1st and September 30th will receive 8 hours of personal time. Team members hired between October 1st and December 31st will receive 16 hours on January 1st. 16 hours of personal time is awarded every January 1st.
Vacation Offered Earned and personal time benefits are available to all full-time team members working 30+ hours per week. The amount of earned and personal time available is based on your years of service, date of hire, and hours scheduled to work per week. Team members scheduled for 40 hours or more per week will receive the following hours of Earned and Personal time combined: On your hire you will receive a prorated amount of paid time off for the remainder of the year. You will receive 9.33 hours for each month you are going to be employed for the remainder of the year. 112 hours of paid time off for the first full year, divided by 12 months, then multiplied by the number of months you will be employed for the remainder of the year. Example: Hired May 22, 2022 May thru December is 8 months 8 months X 9.33 hours per month = 74.64 (You will receive 75 hours you can use within your first year) Any time remaining in your Personal time can be carried over from year to year. On January 1, 2023 you will receive another 112 hours to use. Year three(3) - 128 hours Year five(5) - 136 hours Year seven(7) - 144 hours Year nine(9) - 152 hours And it continues to go up from there.
Paid Holidays Offered Full-time team members are eligible for 8 paid holidays. Grappone recognizes the following paid holidays: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve Day, and Christmas Day.
ST / LT Disability Offered Grappone provides full-time team members with Short-Term Disability insurance which provides income continuation in the event of temporary disablement. Your premium will be paid through weekly payroll deduction based on income. Weekly premiums are $6.70 for team members who earn $34,667 and above annually. Weekly premiums are deducted on a post-tax basis. The benefit is 60% of average weekly earnings to a maximum of $600 per week for up to 26 weeks. Grappone provides full-time team members with Long-Term Disability insurance which provides income continuation in the event of total disablement. Your premiums will be paid through weekly payroll deduction on an after-tax basis. Benefit amount is increments of $100 to max of 60% of monthly salary with a maximum of $6,000. There is a 180 day elimination period and the benefit duration is to the age of 65.
Life Insurance Offered Grappone provides Basic Term Life insurance for full-time team members through Unum. In addition, we provide Accidental Death and Dismemberment, which pays the beneficiary an additional benefit equal to the Term life coverage if the death is the result of an accident. Basic Term Life/AD&D is 100% paid for by Grappone. Benefit Amount $15,000
Uniforms Offered Grappone provides rental and laundry uniform services. Each full-time technician receives 11 shirts (long sleeve or short sleeve), 11 pair of technician pants, and 2 industrial jackets.
Other Offered Full time technicians provided with a company laptop to use at work. Flat rate technicians, clocked time guarantee for worked hours. Company Sales, parts and service discounts. Company negotiated local business discounts
