Hiring Process
  • Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

    Our application form takes 5-10 minutes to complete and its an online form.

  • Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

    We prefer to phone screen but its not required. Phone screens are usually 5-10 minute phone calls where we gauge applicants needs, expectations, and experience.

  • What do your in-person interviews entail?

    In-person interviews are with service director and shop foreman and include shop tour, and we introduce to advisors/ other technicians. Interviews are as long as needed based on candidate.

  • Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

    Background and drug screens are required, we do send a personality test but its not required to be completed for hire.

  • Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

    Yes, brief assessment thats more of a pre screen survey to be completed upon hiring. Standard questions on experience, background, and certifications.

  • After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

    Within 24-48 hours

  • Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

    Depends on candidate with background and drug screens, at most 1-2 weeks

  • Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

    Shop is both heated and Air conditioned

  • What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

    3-4 valets 2-3 advisors 2 parts 2 cashiers 7 technicians

  • What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

    Shop open 7am - 6pm Technicians work 8am - 5pm Rotating Saturdays 8am - 3pm No Sundays!

  • What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

    We provide all speciality tools. We have an employee purchase program for technicians to use if they want to buy tools.

  • What type of break room facility is provided?

    2 break rooms include: vending machines, tables, microwaves, refrigerator

  • How many bays does your shop have?

    24 working bays plus alignment rack

  • How many repair orders do you average per month?

    550-600

  • What is your parts ordering process?

    Technicians order parts electronically but work directly with parts department.

  • What is your policy on side work?

    Technicians are allowed to work on personal vehicles.

  • Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

    We pay for technicians to travel across the country for GM trainings and we pay for ASE Certification completion.

  • Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

    Germain owns 20+ dealerships with opportunities to grow within the company at any location depending on openings.

  • Can you describe your performance review process?

    We do bi-yearly reviews, opportunities for growth and performance.

  • What type of safety training is required?

    Yes it is required, KPA to be completed annualy

  • Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

    We pair younger technicians with more experienced technicians. Its more of a round robin type training where if a more experienced technician is great and engine repair the younger tech will go learn from them on that repair and so on.

  • How does your shop get involved with the local community?

    Depending on opportunities that come up, we have donated to youth sports teams and are always looking to help out our community.

  • Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

    We are willing to work with any high school or tech school

  • Where do you see the shop in five years?

    We are now a part of Cadillacs EV program where we are committed to adding EV chargers, training our staff on EVs. We want to stay up to date on latest technologies in the industry.

  • A Level Technician
    Pay Range: $70,000 - $125,000/year

    $33-$40 per flat rate hour, depending on experience and knowledge

  • B Level Technician
    Pay Range: $45,000 - $85,000/year

    $27-$33 per flat rate hour, depending on experience and knowledge

  • C Level Technician
    Pay Range: $40,000 - $60,000/year

    $22-$27 per flat rate hour, depending on experience and knowledge
