  • Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

    We do have a form to fill out in person. There is also a tab on our website to fill out online. We accept all resumes that you may have prepared as well.

  • Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

    Yes. Light discussion about background, certifications, getting to know the candidate.

  • What do your in-person interviews entail?

    The interview can last 10-45 minutes depending on the quality or attitude of the applicant.

  • Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

    We do check references and drug testing remains optional to us anytime we feel the need to request it.

  • Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

    No

  • After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

    1 week is typical for a response.

  • Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

    Any time between 1 day and 2 weeks.

  • Is there anything else you’d like to mention about your hiring process?

    We enjoy learning about our applicants in person. The conversation is very professional but casual and helps us find out how you could fit in with our team. We are looking for the person who really enjoys what they are doing and who looks to improve.

  • Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

    The shop is heated. No air conditioning.

  • What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

    Our full shop staffing of technicians is 6 people. There is a Service Manager and Service Writer at your attention.

  • What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

    Monday to Friday 7am-5:30pm. The technicians report 8 to 4:30pm. There is opportunity for overtime of up to 2.5 to 5 hours weekly based on our hours of business. We are not open Saturday or Sunday.

  • What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

    Diagnostic equipment such as The Snap-on Verus Edge, The Launch tablet, Ford IDS - VCM2 and for FRDS for 2018 and newer, Tech 2 for GM vehicles up to 2013, Cardaq-3 for Programming with j-2534 standard, Wi-tech-2 software (laptop based), Free-standing press, drill press, alignment equipment and tire balancers from Hunter Engineering, acetylene torches, Plasma cutter, Mig and Tig welders, various hand tools for specialty work.

  • What type of break room facility is provided?

    We have a 20ft by 60ft room that has heating and air conditioning as well as a kitchen sink and cabinets and a refrigerator/freezer. There is a 60 inch tv that has been set up to watch for pleasure and for professional use such as webinars, etc.

  • How many bays does your shop have?

    8 bays

  • How many repair orders do you average per month?

    225

  • What is your parts ordering process?

    The service counter associates perform the estimate creation and parts ordering. The Service writers work with the technicians via a tour of the vehicle for possible pictures to send to the client and with parts diagrams as needed to locate the correct parts.

  • What is your policy on side work?

    We do not advocate side work unless it is family or friend that you helped prior to being employed here.

  • Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

    The shop is kept clean and organized. We do have lifts that go from 7500lbs all the way to 18000lbs to give the technicians a safe and versatile way to service the repairs needed under the vehicle. The Service manager is also a Master certified Advanced level diagnostic certified individual that can aid in many ways on harder to solve problems. Everyone in our facility has something to contribute and is glad to help for the benefit of our customer.

  • Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

    We train mainly in-house. There are opportunities for clinics as engaged with our Parts warehouses. There are online courses and certificate programs available as well.

  • Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

    Technicians are given the exposure to may levels of repair and diagnostics. We believe that working with our more experienced technicians has been the best way for our technicians to grow. Each employee is allowed to grow at their own pace with a desire to improve daily.

  • Can you describe your performance review process?

    Our review takes into consideration the successes of each individual on the levels of care when dealing with our client and fellow employees, willingness to improve professionally, ASE certifications and the drive to complete all necessary levels of certification and the production rate of time paid versus time billed to the customer as a percentage.

  • What type of safety training is required?

    The technicians are shown how to used all shop equipment before using it for the first time. Safety glasses and hearing protection is provided by us.

  • Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

    Each technician has a mentor or person of first assistance to reach to for help or training of a harder task. The technicians at c-level or b-level are asked to observe and assist with higher level repairs in the times that they are not assigned tasks by the service department.

  • How does your shop get involved with the local community?

    We do support the local P.B.A and the P.A.L. youth center in Howell. We have done boosters recently for the Chamber of Commerce local Car Show on Main St., supporting the Society for Prevention of Teenage Suicide and for the local Fire department with contributions to their organizations.

  • Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

    We have not promoted within the schools in the past few years.

  • Where do you see the shop in five years?

    We have been admired as one of the most respected independent facilities in the area. We are looking to expand our offerings to the customers who have fully electric vehicles and other technologies as they advance. We are constantly adapting to changes in our automotive community. The 42 year success of our shop and our reputation is a testament to this.

  • Is there anything else you’d like to mention about career development and community?

    We thrive best with the people who love to do what they do. We as a company have always rewarded our technicians for their professionalism with a by-the-hour pay system that yields wages competitive with busy flat rate shops or higher.     Pay Range: $62,400 - $90,000/year ($30.00 - $43.27/hr)

    5 to 10 hours overtime is available as the workload allows. Pay is by the hour.

  • B Level Technician
    Pay Range: $41,600 - $62,400/year ($20.00 - $30.00/hr)
    ($20.00 - $30.00/hr)

    5 to 10 hours overtime is available as the workload allows. Pay is by the hour.

  • C Level Technician
    Pay Range: $35,360 - $41,600/year ($17.00 - $20.00/hr)
    ($17.00 - $20.00/hr)

    5 to 10 hours overtime is available as the workload allows. Pay is by the hour.

  • Lube Technician
    Pay Range: $31,200 - $35,000/year ($15.00 - $16.83/hr)

    5 to 10 hours overtime is available as the workload allows. Pay is by the hour.
