Hiring Process
  • Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

    There is an online application that takes about 20 minutes to complete.

  • Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

    Yes we phone screen as well as hold in-person interviews.

  • What do your in-person interviews entail?

    The interview will be held with the Service Director and cover work history, educational background, and certifications or achievements. There will also be screening done by a Human Resources recruiter.

  • Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

    Yes, there will be a background check, drug screening, and personality test.

  • Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

    There is a verbal skill assessment completed during the screening process.

  • After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

    2-3 days

  • Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

    1-2 weeks

  • Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

    Our shop is brand new as of June 2019! It is heated & air conditioned. We have state-of-the-art lifts, along with all Subaru support diagnostic equipment.

  • What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

    Teams are about 5 people, composed of 2 leaders and others who may be a mix of experience levels.

  • What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

    Monday-Friday 8:00AM - 5:00PM Techs will have alternating Saturdays off!

  • What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

    We provide toolboxes, alignment racks, new lifts, service drive alignment checker, and all factory diagnostic equipment.

  • What type of break room facility is provided?

    The break room has a big screen TV, refrigerator, microwave, table, and chairs. It is adjacent to an Italian market.

  • How many bays does your shop have?

    14 bays with alignment racks and wash bay

  • How many repair orders do you average per month?

    1200

  • What is your parts ordering process?

    If parts are not in-stock, they are available overnight. Tech would do the recommendation, and the ASM would do the approval. Fred Beans is the largest wholesale parts supplier in the country!

  • What is your policy on side work?

    Allowable on a case-by-case basis with management approval.

  • Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

    Fred Beans Automotive Group encompasses 32 locations consisting of 25 dealerships, 18 brands, six Fred Beans collision centers (franchised CARSTAR), two AutoExpress locations, a parts distribution center, two Carquest locations, four Autorents rental locations, and commercial truck sales.   • Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

    Subaru factory training is provided online and in-person when available. We will reimburse expenses incurred for ASEs or other certifications and licenses.

  • Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

    We have a supportive, strong team that technicians will be able to work with and learn from. Hands-on mentorship is provided regularly by 3 Master Technicians.

  • Can you describe your performance review process?

    90 day performance reviews and annual reviews are done with the Service Manager. The reviews will entail a review of specific items on a checklist so you know what to expect. The reviews will determine pay increase.

  • What type of safety training is required?

    Safety training entails a review of shop safety requirements and protocols. There is a safety committee that will make recommendations as needed.

  • Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

    There is a lateral support system where team leaders will work side-by-side to mentor techs.

  • How does your shop get involved with the local community?

    We believe in being a positive force in the communities where we live and work, not just with donations to charities, but with actions that set an example for others to follow. We are involved in an annual auto show where proceeds are donated to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). LLS has partnered with Subaru and its retailers to spread hope, love, and warmth to blood cancer patients and their families.   • Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

    We provide a Technical School Student Recruitment Package valued at $33,000! This includes a $1,500 Sign-On Bonus, paid out as follows: -$500 after 90 Days of Employment -$500 after 180 Days of Employment -$500 after 1 Year of Employment $1,500 Tool Purchase Program, paid out as follows: -$500 Starter Tool Set upon hire (Must stay employed for 1 Year otherwise tools will be given back to Company) -$1,000 Tool Voucher after 1 Year of Employment Tuition Reimbursement Program (Maximum potential of $30,000 paid directly to school or Loan Administrator) paid out as follows: -$250 per month over a maximum period of 10 years -50% of any tuition reimbursement paid by the company will be paid back if employment is terminated or resigned before the first anniversary Payments will commence after 90 days of Employment We pride ourselves on our relationship with local schools, encouraging students to enter the profession.
