The shop is heated during winter. Throughout the rest of the year, there are fans in the shop which provide a comfortable environment.

There are two shifts: 5 - 8 hour days Monday-Friday with hours of 7 AM - 3:30 PM 4 - 10 hour days Monday - Thursday with hours of 2:15 PM - 12:45 AM There may be Saturday work available on a voluntary basis.
We provide a dedicated tool room where techs can check out tools as needed.
There is a dedicated break room area with vending machines, table, and chairs.
We have a total of 16 bays with 8 of those bays having tall ceilings and the remaining being normal bay height.
We average about 600 repair orders per month.
Parts are ordered online via a tech's computer.
Any side work needs to be reviewed and approved by supervisor beforehand.

We have a technician career development plan which allows techs to move from a Level 1 to Level 6. This is a specified, detailed training plan that will help every tech grow their skills. Our company offers many instructor-led and online courses for free. We will look to you to show interest in these trainings and be self-motivated to grow your career.
We heavily promote from within. Our goal is to help you grow in your career, and we offer a variety of career paths. Techs may be promoted into service management, sales, service admin, or other areas, and we will support them if they have the initiative and desire to grow.
Performance reviews are provided after 90 days of hire, and then on annual basis each spring. There will also be ongoing touchpoints throughout the year to ensure the employee feels supported and has the necessary guidance for growth.
There is a defined safety checklist for all new hires, conducted both online and in-person. There is an active safety action committee that supports technicians in not only identifying but also resolving any type of safety observation.
We have identified mentors in all our locations to support new hires, including younger techs. All new hires will be assigned a "buddy," or mentor, who looks out for that person. A buddy has defined tasks in the first 100 days, including reviewing shop layout information and safety protocols.
With a deep-rooted history of generous community involvement, Fabick Cat supports the communities in which we live and work. Giving back is not only encouraged but celebrated across the organization. The Fabick Cat family recognizes employees who perform charitable work in their communities and contributes financial donations to employee selected organizations. Each month, $500 is donated to an employee-selected charity. Employees may submit a charity of their choice for donation, and we will pick one each month to donate to. During our 100 Year celebration, in 2017, the Fabick family made unprecedented contributions to the following organizations: Segs4Vets, SSM Cardinal Glennon, Wings of Hope, the Boy Scouts of America, the St. Louis Police Foundation, the Masters, and many others.
We are proud to be aligned with the FABTECH program at Fox Valley Technical College. FABTECH is an affordably priced, accredited technical diploma series of courses focused on developing entry-level technicians in the construction equipment, engine and electric power-generation fields. Students receive a Technical Diploma but can apply the credits earned toward an AAS degree in Construction Equipment Technology or Electric Power Generation and Marine Engine Technology. This program provides students with opportunity to be on-the-job and earning a good income at one of Fabick Cat’s locations in 12 months! Scholarships from $500 to $1,000 may be awarded based on criteria such as meeting admissions requirements, education and experience, scholastic aptitude, and commitment to complete required course work. A phone screening will be done by a Recruiter or HR team member. This will last about 30 minutes and ensure the candidate has the necessary qualifications and experience for the position.
The in-person interview will last about 45-60 minutes. The candidate will meet with the Service Manager, Branch Manager, and/or another staff member (potentially 1-3 people). The interview will include a tour of the shop and chance to see shop techs working.
A drug screen, physical, and background check are all conducted before hiring.
Besides a hands-on welding assessment for applicable positions, a skill assessment is determined verbally through the interview process.

We have six levels of technicians based on skills, abilities, competencies, education and experience. Each level advances in pay grade providing technicians not only room to grown in current pay grade, but also as they advance their skill set to the next level.

Health Insurance | Offered | An extensive choice of medical and prescription drug coverage is available, including a high deductible plan with a health savings account at reasonable rates, for employees and their dependents. Vacation | Offered | To offer a break from work, all full-time employees receive annual paid time off. New employees starting in the first quarter of the year will receive 80 hours of PTO; employees hired after will receive a pro-rated amount. On January 1st following their hire date, employees will receive 112 hours of PTO. Increases to the annual accrual of PTO will occur on the 5th and 10th full year of employment at 152 hours at 5th year and 192 hours in the 10th year. |

Other | Offered | Community Service: Employees can apply for up to 8 hours of additional paid time off every calendar year to volunteer for a valid non-profit 501(c)(3) foodbank, home construction or child mentoring charitable organization(s). These charitable hours do not impact normal PTO use or accrual and do not apply toward overtime. Parental Leave: Qualifying birth and adoptive parents will be eligible to take Family Medical Leave. Bereavement Leave: Employees are provided paid time off in the event of a death of an immediate family member. Jury Duty Pay: Fabick Cat provides the difference between jury duty pay and the regular day’s pay for the time employees spend serving on jury duty, up to a maximum of ten workdays per calendar year. Employee Discount Program: In addition to group purchasing discounts on Dell and Microsoft office products, all employees can access an online website with discounted movie tickets, theme park tickets, products, electronics, etc. Employee Referral Bonus: Employees receive up to $6,000 for any referral hire who stays with Fabick Cat for a specified period of time.
