  • Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

    We have an application that takes about 10 minutes to complete.

  • Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

    Not typically.

  • What do your in-person interviews entail?

    Go over their resume and application, have a conversation about their goals and what they can bring to the business, what we're looking for, and a shop tour.

  • Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

    Background checks on all applicants. CPP tests sometimes.

  • Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

    Yes. Mostly general service questions with some technical questions to help gauge an applicants knowledge.

  • After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

    Typically1 to 2 weeks.

  • Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

    Same as above.

  • Is there anything else you’d like to mention about your hiring process?

    No

  • Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

    Shop is heated with 2 waste oil heaters. 4 propane heaters for backup.

  • What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

    Will be working with 2 other techs, service manager, office manager, and myself.

  • What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

    7:30 am to 5:30 pm. Techs work 8 to 5 with an hour for lunch.

  • What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

    Scan tools, tablets, a host of other shop related tools.

  • What type of break room facility is provided?

    We have a large break room with refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, and 50" Smart TV. There's also a private locker area to change clothes.

  • How many bays does your shop have?

    8 Bays, 6 lifts, and an alignment bay.

  • How many repair orders do you average per month?

    Year to date 1/1/20 to 9/30/20 we averaged 170 RO's/month. ARO $431.00. NOTE: this includes the time frame of Covid-19 statewide shut down. We remained open.

  • What is your parts ordering process?

    Service manager builds estimates and orders parts. Most parts ordered electronically.

  • What is your policy on side work?

    Work can be done on personal and immediate family vehicles with prior approval.

  • Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

    Clean well organized shop with a comfortable family oriented work environment.

  • Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

    We offer continuing education thru class room training when available, webinars, and vendor offered learning programs.

  • Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

    Anyone who has initiative to learn has the opportunity to grow in this career.

  • Can you describe your performance review process?

    We conduct tool box meetings on a relatively frequent basis and a 90 day new hire review as well as annual reviews.

  • What type of safety training is required?

    Any previous training the applicant has had.

  • Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

    All of the older experienced techs are willing to help and guide the younger techs.

  • How does your shop get involved with the local community?

    We take care of the local High School drivers education vehicle at no charge to the school. We host a women's car care clinic annually. We give to our local food pantry.

  • Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

    I have been a member of our local Vocational School's occupational advisory committee for 15 years and at least 2 times a year I teach a class for the kids.

  • Where do you see the shop in five years?

    We will be the premier go to place in the community.

  • Is there anything else you’d like to mention about career development and community?

    No

  • A Level Technician
    Pay Range: $48,000 - $80,000/year

    We pay a weekly base rate plus a bonus based upon produced hours at 5 hour increments.

  • B Level Technician
    Pay Range: $37,000 - $60,000/year

    We pay a weekly base rate plus a bonus based upon produced hours at 5 hour increments.

  • C Level Technician
    Pay Range: $25,000 - $40,000/year

    We pay a weekly base rate plus a bonus based upon produced hours at 5 hour increments.
