The shop is heated during colder months. It is comfortable year-round, but we are looking into getting air conditioning as well.
We have 7 staff 7 total, including 4 techs, a service advisor, customer service rep, and financial manager.
Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00pm
Techs will want to have their own basic tool set, but we provide major tools including scanning tools, etc. We work with a tow company that will assist with getting tools to the shop if wanted. Also, we have a "community" tool box available if a tool is needed right away and a tech does not have their own on hand.
We have a comfortable break room area with table, 5 chairs, refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, and sink. It is air conditioned and used as a space for team meetings. There is also a computer available in the break room.
4 bays
About 100 (transmission shop)
Techs will decide which parts are needed and any issues they are seeing. If a part is not in stock and needs to be ordered, the tech will get estimate of when it will arrive. If a part is low, we will ensure more are ordered.
No side work permitted at the shop.
Yes, we encourage training! Training is provided through affiliated associations we work with. Sometimes, we may bring in speakers for lunch-and-learn sessions to discuss various topics. Along with career training, we also encourage personal development and training.
We strive to know an employee's goals - either personal or career-related - to help with a skill development plan. If someone is interested in growing into another position with us, we like to define the role & responsibilities, provide them with an opportunity to shadow, and help them develop needed skills for the positions. We provide cross-training opportunities within the shop.
Our performance reviews will look at both metrics and how staff are meeting goals, but also their communication skills and how they work with others.
Safety training is provided during the new employee onboarding process. We will bring the member through the shop and point out where things are kept, safety protocols, anything processes specific to shop, etc. There is a monthly review of potential safety issues, and we will discuss anything found. There is also a "shop clean-up" each fall, (which is done on a Saturday and given as a comp day). This is a fun day for team bonding, but also encourage the team to think about ideas for improved safety and efficiency.
When a new member starts, they are assigned a mentor to help answer questions about processes and procedures to ensure they are comfortable. The mentor helps double-check work for safety reasons and will provide guidance throughout the member's development.
We are highly involved in the local community! In April, during National Car Care Month, we offer free vehicle inspections outside in our parking lot, with giveaways and care care information! This has helped community members get more comfortable with auto care, and increased awareness of our shop. A portion of April's proceeds are donated to Make a Wish Connecticut. In October, we are involved with the Brakes for Breasts campaign to help fight breast cancer. We are also involved with Wheels for Wishes, which encourages people to donate their vehicles if not used, and benefits Make a Wish Connecticut. During COVID, we have offered free oil changes to first responders, health care workers, and others on the front line helping our community. Check out more about our community involvement here: https://crocestrans.com/community
We are involved with school career fairs, presenting to students and families are school career nights, and hope to soon start a job shadowing partnership with a local high school automotive program.
Our goal is to be growing! Along with adding more stellar team members, and helping our staff grow leadership and management skills.
