Hiring Process
  • Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

    We do have an online application and it usually takes less than 20 minutes to complete.

  • Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

    Applicants are phone screened by a recruiter and then an in person or phone interview is scheduled with the service manager.

  • What do your in-person interviews entail?

    One on one question and answer with the service manager and shop foreman if available.

  • Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

    We conduct a background check and a drug screening prior to offer.

  • Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

    There are some assessments that are performed on line.

  • After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

    We try to keep in contact with our candidates and a rejection or offer is usually made within a week.

  • Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

    Depending on the number of applicants it usually takes less than a week.

  • Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

    The shop is very well heated, insulated and well ventilated. No A/C needed in Anchorage.

  • What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

    40 Fixed Operations staff including 15 technicians

  • What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

    M - F 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM Techs shifts vary: 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, and 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM Sat. 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Techs rotate Saturdays to work 1 Saturday per month.

  • What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

    Shop provides ALL GM specialty tools including computers and diagnostic software. Technicians are expected to have their own hand tools and tool box.

  • What type of break room facility is provided?

    Heated, quiet employee breakroom with microwave and fridge.

  • How many bays does your shop have?

    26 main shop bays. 4 lube bays. 2 detail bays

  • How many repair orders do you average per month?

    2300

  • What is your parts ordering process?

    Parts are requested electronically which prints at Parts dept.

  • What is your policy on side work?

    We do not allow side work to be done on site as it is an insurance issue.

  • Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

    Culture!!! Service Manager has worked in shop for 17 years! A family type atmosphere that focuses on training and support. This shop works hard but has a lot of fun. DRAMA - FREE!!

  • Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

    Shop pays for completed and passed ASEs. Shop pays for MFG training both on site and off premise including : Travel, Lodging, Food, and time at class.

  • Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

    Our mission statement is Growth Powered By People! How far you go depends on you and your drive. We have had many techs become service managers and service managers become fixed operations directors and even general managers!

  • Can you describe your performance review process?

    Performance Reviews are each done at service manager's discretion.

  • What type of safety training is required?

    Monthly safety meetings. On-line safety training at hire. Safety committee on site.

  • Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

    Our senior technicians are afforded the opportunity to mentor new and upcoming techs.

  • How does your shop get involved with the local community?

    All Lithia stores are very involved in community events. Lithia Motors Inc. has great national community involvement including Lithia 4 Kids.

  • Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

    Our local stores and national recruiters are very involved with local High School vocational programs . Lithia Motors Inc. is a preferred employer at all national vocational schools.

  • Where do you see the shop in five years?

    YOY growth has been incredible and projected to continue through the next 5 years. We are also implementing on-line service and sales through our new Driveway division!

  • A Level Technician
    Pay Range: $90,000 - $117,000/year

    Flat Rate. Tech has acquired at least 80% of GM Certifications

  • B Level Technician
    Pay Range: $70,000 - $87,000/year

    Flat Rate Tech as acquired at least 50% of GM Certifications

  • C Level Technician
    Pay Range: $51,500 - $67,500/year

    Flat Rate Tech has some dealership experience and is earning GM certifications

  • Lube Technician
    Pay Range: $29,000 - $35,000/year

    Flat Rate Entry level technician that can perform L.O.F. and basic maintenance.
