Our shop is both heated and air conditioned. We want our Techs to be as comfortable as possible when working in the shop.
1 Service Manager, 1 Customer Service Manager and 2 Shop Foreman along with 20+ technicians.
Techs work from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
We provide all of the factory tools. We also have Hunter tire changers/balancers, a brand new alignment racks and a lot of other general shop tools to make life easy for Techs. Techs do need to supply their own tools and we supply secure, built-in tool boxes.
Our climate controlled break room is ultra clean equipped with a TV, a microwave oven and refrigerator. It is located away from the hustle of the service department

Daily orders. We have 3 Parts Counter people that are dedicated to our service department. Everything we do is electronic and makes it easy on Techs to avoid time spent standing around the parts counter.
While we don't allow side work in our shop, we do allow our Techs to work on their personal vehicles and their families vehicles with an open repair order for insurance purposes.
We take pride in our facility and fix things when it breaks. We have high standards in our shop to help drive employee and customer satisfaction.
We pay for all factory training and expenses associated with it for our Techs. We believe in ongoing training and use it as part of our career path. We also incentivize our Techs once they complete certifications.
We love to promote from within! Many of our current employees advanced from entry level positions.
We have a formal written process and verbal discussion that takes place every 6 months. We do them every July and January.
We require a safety training through KPA.
We have a very hands on mentorship program and cater it to the individual. Our typical process takes a person who's spent 12 months as an apprentice where they work directly with a mentor and a shop foreman.
We love to give back to our community! 89% of Checkered Flag employees pledged a total of $197k in United Way donations for 2020. Employees volunteer their time to work on various projects like the United Way Day of Caring, can drives, Clean the Bay Day, and much more!
We have several partnerships with local schools in the area! We give students interested in an automotive career opportunities for hands-on experience.
Our Management team is loyal to our company and we are focused on growth to keep the shop full, our Techs well trained and a positive team oriented culture.
We rent out a big facility have an annual picnic for our company. Once a year, we do a 3 month competition for our top Technician to receive an all inclusive trip

We phone screen all applicants before an in-person interview
Our Shop Foreman and Service Manager performs an in person interview and then gives the candidate a tour of the shop. The interview lasts anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour, depending on how many questions the Tech would have
We perform background checks, drug screens, and driving record checks
We do not perform any skill assessment.
We make our decisions quick and typically make our decision within 1 to 2 days
Somewhere between 3 to 5 days depending on how long the background check takes to come back.
We do offer a sign-on bonus for qualified applicants.
We consider an A Level Tech to have Factory level certification and 5+ years of experience. We also feel that A Level Techs need to be able to perform advanced diagnostics and most repairs. Pay is based on Flat Rate per hour. We also offer a production bonus based on hours produced. On top of that, we offer an annual retention bonus based on the amount of time you're with the company. We consider a B level Tech to have the ability to do light diagnostic and general repair. A "B" level Tech is considered to have 2+ years of experience. Pay is based on Flat Rate per hour. We also offer a production bonus based on hours produced. On top of that, we offer an annual retention bonus based on the amount of time you're with the company. We consider a C Level Technician to be the next level after being an apprentice. A C Level Tech is able to independently do maintenance and light repair. A "C" level Tech is more of an entry level role for a Tech with less experience but able to do maintenance/repairs on their own. Pay is based on Flat Rate per hour. We also offer a production bonus based on hours produced. On top of that, we offer an annual retention bonus based on the amount of time you're with the company.
