Hiring Process
  • Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

    Shop is heated and air conditioned.

  • What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

    5-6 technicians Store manager 2 service advisors

  • What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

    7am - 6pm Monday - Friday No Weekends!

  • What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

    Shop provides all major and speciality tools, 2 scanners. Technicians are required to have their own set of basic tools.

  • What type of break room facility is provided?

    Break room is separate from shop and connected to the office. Includes refrigerator, microwave, table, bottled water, and coffee machine.

  • How many bays does your shop have?

    10 bays

  • How many repair orders do you average per month?

    Average about 355 per month

  • What is your parts ordering process?

    Technicians go through the service advisors to order parts

  • What is your policy on side work?

    No formal policy but we always ask to go through managers for approval.

  • Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

    We offer to pay for any training class that comes to our area for our technicians.

  • Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

    Opportunities to grow from lube technicians to more experienced roles as positions come available. We will always prefer to promote from within when possible.

  • Can you describe your performance review process?

    Performance reviews are completed twice a year.

  • What type of safety training is required?

    When hired we go over basic safety trainings on equipment etc.

  • Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

    Right now we do not have a formal process. We are looking for someone to become a member of our team to be in that mentor role. We do pair our technicians up on projects to gain more experience.

  • How does your shop get involved with the local community?

    As we are asked we will gladly take part in sponsorships for local youth teams and other opportunities. This is an area we want to focus on more in the future.

  • Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

    Something we did in the past but again we want to find more opportunities to do so in the future.

  • Where do you see the shop in five years?

    We want to continue to grow the business. We need someone experienced that can fit our need of a shop mentor and other technician needs to do so.

  • Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

    Our application is a very basic form that is either online and on paper. It should take about 5-10 minutes to complete.

  • Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

    Typically we don't require any phone screens, we prefer to do in-person interviews as soon as we can.

  • What do your in-person interviews entail?

    First in-person interview is about 20 minutes with store manager. They go through candidates resume and application. Also ask basic questions to learn more about candidates. Second in person interview, is about 20-30 minutes with one other technician and service advisor. Includes shop tour to discuss equipment and other general questions.

  • Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

    We require drug screens for technicians and personality tests for advisors and managers.

  • Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

    Skills assessments are not required

  • After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

    3-4 days

  • Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

    Up to a week at most depending on schedule

  • A Level Technician
    Pay Range: $70,000 - $90,000/year ($33.65 - $43.27/hr)

    Hourly plus bonus based on how many hours a technician bills. Flexible pay plans are available and can be discussed.

  • B Level Technician
    Pay Range: $50,000 - $65,000/year ($24.04 - $31.25/hr)
    ($24.04 - $31.25/hr)

    Hourly plus bonus based on how many hours a technician bills.

  • Lube Technician
    Pay Range: $33,250 - $44,500/year

    Hourly pay

  • Service Advisor
    Pay Range: $40,000 - $60,000/year

    Hourly pay with overtime
