Hiring Process
  • Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

    Yes - 10-15 minutes. We ask for a resume also.

  • Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

    No

  • What do your in-person interviews entail?

    Sitting down with us and discussing past history of technicians career and interests.

  • Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

    We ask for permission to run a license report to make sure they have a clean license.

  • Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

    We will ask some questions about diagnosing procedures and there is a prohibition period that the tech can prove his/her skills.

  • After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

    3-4 days

  • Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

    Depends on the technicians needs - for example if they need to give a 2 week notice at their current employer we will accommodate.

  • Is there anything else you’d like to mention about your hiring process?

    We expect the same 3-4 day response from a potential employee.

  • Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

    The shop has heated floors and overhead heaters

  • What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

    5 people work here - 3 techs, 1 office person and one tech/owner/service advisor

  • What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

    Hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. No weekend hours

  • What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

    Shop has many scan tools and OEM laptops. Specialty tools are usually purchased and share throughout the shop.

  • What type of break room facility is provided?

    There is a kitchen available with a full size refrigerator and break room table.

  • How many bays does your shop have?

    6 bays

  • How many repair orders do you average per month?

    220-280

  • What is your parts ordering process?

    service manager or office person will order parts for tech

  • What is your policy on side work?

    We ask that you do not do side work that would interfere with our business.

  • Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

    We are a true team here. We help each other out. Our goal is to get all the vehicles diagnosed correctly and fixed correctly the first time. This is why we do not pay flat rate. Rushing through a job to beat the clock only causes short cuts and comebacks.

  • Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

    Any classes that are offered through our vendors is open for any tech to sign up. We will pay for a class if there is a tech wanting to go.

  • Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

    Constant learning always makes for a smarter technician. We evaluate and have discussions throughout the year and compensate great workers.

  • Can you describe your performance review process?

    Our process is simple - if you do a great job - you will be rewarded. At the time of hire, we will sit down with the technician and see how things are going and ask if there is anything that he/she suggests to help improve their daily process in three months and at 6 months. Then our evaluations are yearly. We also have one day a month that our techs can just talk to us as a group, about how the shop is running and we openly listen to their concerns and ideas.

  • What type of safety training is required?

    Basic - wear safety glasses and hearing protection when needed. They will be versed on basic safety issues with the equipment throughout the shop.

  • Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

    Everyone here has helped or been helped by others. They use each other as sounding boards and assist each other in larger jobs.

  • How does your shop get involved with the local community?

    We donate to any child/teenager who comes in and asks for donations or contributions. We like to see that if their cause is fund raising that they do the leg work and come in themselves.

  • Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

    We do not do any of that at this time.

  • Where do you see the shop in five years?

    Keeping our customers happy that they an rely on us to fix their cars in a timely manner and keep up on the tech stuff to be above just a basic repair facility.

  • Is there anything else you’d like to mention about career development and community?

    Every tech deserves to be paid for their knowledge whether self taught or college educated. The automotive industry is becoming more high tech and we need people that are willing to learn.

  • A Level Technician
    Pay Range: $56,875 - $79,625/year

    Hourly - bonus pay for ASE certifications

  • B Level Technician
    Pay Range: $56,000 - $78,000/year

    Hourly - bonus pay for ASE certifications
