Hiring Process
  • Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

    Application typically takes 5-10 minutes

  • Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

    I typically try to have a phone conversation with applicants before an interview, but it is not required

  • What do your in-person interviews entail?

    Reviewing work history, some basic questioning, reviewing dealership pay scales

  • Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

    We perform driver license and background checks only

  • Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

    We do not, we request applicants be up front with their skill set

  • After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

    We typically make a decision during the interview. Depending on the position, it may be next day.

  • Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

    24hrs

  • Is there anything else you’d like to mention about your hiring process?

    Google, Zoom, or other virtual interviews may also be approved.

  • Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

    Heat and A/C in the shop

  • What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

    Approx 20 technicians, and 6 service advisors

  • What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

    7:30-5pm - Mon - Friday 7:30-2pm - Saturday Closed on Sundays

  • What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

    All Toyota Specialty tools Brake lathe flush machines tire machine tire balancer Alignment Rack Torches Welders

  • What type of break room facility is provided?

    We have a spacious lunch room with TV and Vending

  • How many bays does your shop have?

    24

  • How many repair orders do you average per month?

    2,500 not including used cars and internals

  • What is your parts ordering process?

    Parts are available for order until 5pm every day. Most parts are available next day.

  • What is your policy on side work?

    Technicians may perform work on immediate family members vehicles for no labor charge. Parts are sold at 10% over cost to employees and immediate family members

  • Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

    We have held the #1 position in the region for customer labor sales for a minimum of 5 years.

  • Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

    We offer ASE reimbursement State Inspection and Emissions classes and tested reimbursement Factory Training in Glenn Burnie Maryland - food/hotel/travel expenses reimbursed

  • Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

    We have a great relationship with the manufacture, we can often get our technicians into training in short order.

  • Can you describe your performance review process?

    We have a set pay scale, technicians can make their increases at their own pace. It is mostly determined by skill set and credentials

  • What type of safety training is required?

    We have monthly safety meetings - approx 15 minutes per meeting

  • Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

    We have some technicians that are dedicated to our in house training program

  • How does your shop get involved with the local community?

    We have built Parks, we give vehicles to our local Ronald McDonald house, we have also donated vehicles to our local township officials.

  • Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

    We have relationships with several local highschools

  • Where do you see the shop in five years?

    In 5 years I would love to see our shop populated with hard working, educated, fully trained technicians that care about the customer and what they are doing.

  • Is there anything else you’d like to mention about career development and community?

    We have been running our in house training program for approx 5 years.

  • A Level Technician
    Pay Range: $75,000 - $105,000/year

    A level techs, can perform any automotive related repair, Toyota A techs will have Expert Certification in most or all categories. Top Earners are MDT or master diagnostic technicians. MDT has all expert categories and all ASE credentials. State inspection and emissions included

  • B Level Technician
    Pay Range: $50,000 - $75,000/year

    B level technicians have some expert factory certifications, certified in most categories and have majority of their ASE's, and have state inspection and emissions license.

  • C Level Technician
    Pay Range: $30,000 - $50,000/year

    C Level technicians have state inspection and emissions license, typically at least one ASE and are eligible for factory training after some online courses.

  • Lube Technician
    Pay Range: $25,000 - $30,000/year

    Express technician, this technician has recently graduated technical school, vocational school or has a mechanical aptitude that allows for quick learning.

  • Student Tech / Apprentice
    Pay Range: $10 - $13/hour

    Minimal to no automotive experience, student apprentice programs are a ground level position, but can quickly work their way toward Lube Technician.
