Hiring Process
  • Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

    Yes, about 20 min.

  • Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

    Yes

  • What do your in-person interviews entail?

    Usually a visit in the office with a tour of the facility. Questions about your experience, references, goals and where you want to be in the future.

  • Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

    Yes, including having driver license screened by my insurance provider.

  • Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

    Yes, usually do at least one day paid hands on trial in the shop.

  • After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

    A few days to 1 week depending on references and screening.

  • Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

    1 to 2 weeks.

  • Is there anything else you’d like to mention about your hiring process?

    We are looking for a good fit both technically and personality wise, someone who wants to learn and grow with us.

  • Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

    Heated, office has central air and heat.

  • What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

    3+ and growing.

  • What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

    8AM to 5:30PM M-F no weekends

  • What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

    All specialized tools provided including diagnostic and testing equipment. Lab scopes, scan tools including several factory ones.

  • What type of break room facility is provided?

    Small changing area with fridge/freezer uniform storage microwave and toaster oven. Hot and cold water bubbler. Also gas grill available to use.

  • How many bays does your shop have?

    Four bays with room for several other cars on the flat along with room to perform ADAS calibrations.

  • How many repair orders do you average per month?

    60 to 80 but looking to expand as we add personnel, ARO is over $400

  • What is your parts ordering process?

    Service advisor generally sources parts from NAPA 1st choice and World Pac 2nd. All digital shop so techs can also check on parts if needed.

  • What is your policy on side work?

    Other than on immediate family members work not allowed.

  • Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

    Lots of training in a team environment, asked to learn from others as well as offer to teach. We encourage and pay for continuing training always.

  • Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

    Paid training, minimum of twenty (20) hours per calendar year. In addition to on-going automotive technology training, we will pay for training to become ASE certified.

  • Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

    As we grow there will be opportunities to move up, especially if starting as a lower level tech. Moving from C to A level and from there to management level responsibilities are all possible.

  • Can you describe your performance review process?

    We hold ongoing meetings to go over issues of the day week etc, as well as periodic formal reviews at a minimum of 6 month periods.

  • What type of safety training is required?

    Online lift safety courses as well as specific training on other equipment on an as needed basis.

  • Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

    We all work as a team and are expected to mentor techs in areas that they are less experienced in.

  • How does your shop get involved with the local community?

    We always give our employees time to volunteer and perform other civic duties as required. We are also willing to do charitable giving based on feedback and recommendations of customers and employees.

  • Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

    We have one apprentice tech currently attending trade school and are always looking for more.

  • Where do you see the shop in five years?

    We expect to be fully staffed with 4 techs a service advisor and a parts person and be looking to expand to a second location or larger location.

  • Is there anything else you’d like to mention about career development and community?

    We encourage growth in all our employees.

  • A Level Technician
    Pay Range: $50,000 - $75,000/year

    Obviously could be higher for the right candidate, also pay a hybrid pay of a base hourly rate with a commission bonus based on billable hours.

  • B Level Technician
    Pay Range: $30,000 - $55,000/year

    Hybrid pay plan of base hourly rate with commission bonus based on billable hours.

  • C Level Technician
    Pay Range: $20,000 - $35,000/year

    Hybrid pay plan of base hourly rate with commission bonus based on billable hours.

  • Service Advisor
    Pay Range: $50,000 - $150,000/year

    Pay combination of minimum guarantee and commission based on sales.
