Hiring Process
  • Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

    We provide an online application that usually takes about 10 minutes to complete.

  • Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

    Location managers will reach out to candidates to discuss the position, technicians skill set, and to gauge if they would be a fit. An in-person interview would also be scheduled at that time.

  • What do your in-person interviews entail?

    Typically the shop manager handles in-person interviews. Discussion during the interview include position requirements, benefits, and bonus opportunities. They will also discuss performance goals, incentives, technical questions to discover skill set, and see if technician fits our shops culture.

  • Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

    We perform background checks, motor vehicle check, and drug screens.

  • Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

    There is no formal skills assessment. Most of our discovery is through the phone screen, and in-person interview process.

  • After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

    1-2 Days

  • Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

    1-2 Days, depending on availability for interviews

  • Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

    Our shop area is heated and has a breakroom that has air conditioning.

  • What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

    This facility has a total of six employees. Manager, Assistant Manager, A Tech (Master Certified) B Tech, C Tech and a Lube/Tire Tech.

  • What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

    Shop Hours are 7:30-6:00 Monday - Friday and 8:00-4:00 on Saturday. Closed on Sunday Shift's are mostly 7:30-4:30 and 9:00-6:00

  • What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

    Snap-On Diagnostic Tool, Tablet for Digital Inspections, Press, Flush Equipment and many other shop tools are available.

  • What type of break room facility is provided?

    There is a separate space provided with fridge, microwave, sink, table and chairs. This area is away from the shop and is air conditioned and heated.

  • How many bays does your shop have?

    This shop has 12 bays

  • How many repair orders do you average per month?

    Our car count ranges from 350-450 cars per month depending on seasonality. We have a steady stream of tow ins and a customer retention rate of 85%.

  • What is your parts ordering process?

    Parts are ordered by management using the shop management system Napa Tracs.

  • What is your policy on side work?

    All work must be performed on a repair order on employees receive a 20% discount and are allowed to use payroll deduction to pay for parts and or labor. No work is permitted on premises that is not AAA business.

  • Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

    Our shop is owned by AAA and we have a steady stream of work. We pride ourselves on quality repairs and offer premium repairs and service. Our oil changes are Full Synthetic only and we use only a Napa gold oil filter.

  • Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

    AAA promotes and encourages continued education. ASE certifications will be paid for upon completion, and there is also in shop training for more junior technicians.

  • Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

    We are committed to our technicians professional development. We set up individualized career paths and money is set aside for employees to go to trainings and classes to help build technicians skill sets. Some of the training is done inhouse but we will send technicians to other trainings. Our hope is for all of our technicians to reach master technician levels.

  • Can you describe your performance review process?

    There are annual performance reviews. During these reviews there may be merit based increases with a manager assessment, and employee assessment. Goals and objectives are discussed from the previous year and if technician hit those marks. We also setup new goals for the upcoming year. Our mission and values are also discussed and how the techs performance align with those goals.

  • What type of safety training is required?

    Technician safety training is available.

  • Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

    Master technician will over see junior techs work. They will work with them one-on-one during repairs and answer any additional questions to help develop their skills.

  • How does your shop get involved with the local community?

    We participate in charitable events and volunteer events and activities. (American Heart, Sponsored blood drives, traffic safety programs for AAA members)

  • Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

    Currently we are developing a technical high school program, this is a future goal that we will continue to build upon.

  • Where do you see the shop in five years?

    Our goal is to have a robust training program for entry level auto technicians. We want to attract high school age students and introduce them to the industry. Then we can train them and move them up in our company to have a successful, stable career.

  • Is there anything else you’d like to mention about career development and community?

  • A Level Technician
    Pay Range: $50,000 - $120,000/year

    Progressive flat rate payment plan with regular hourly pay for hours worked OR flat rate hours billed, whichever is higher. Hourly rate is dependent on years of experience and ASE level. (current or expired)

  • B Level Technician
    Pay Range: $40,000 - $110,000/year

    Progressive flat rate payment plan with regular hourly pay for hours worked OR flat rate hours billed, whichever is higher. Hourly rate is dependent on years of experience and ASE level. (current or expired)

  • Lube Technician
    Pay Range: $26,228 - $39,977/year

  • Student Tech / Apprentice
    Pay Range: $13 - $18/hour

    This is an hourly position. This position will build confidence, experience and skills by performing repairs and/or maintenance assigned by a service advisor or manager, under the direct supervision of an assigned Mentor. Candidate will be responsible for following instructions of their Mentor, while completing technical service and/or repair to assigned vehicles, ensuring the highest quality of service or repair. The position will have a graduation ceremony after all training is completed where the graduating associate will receive a tool box valued at $5,000 and a set of tools valued at $2,000.

Health Insurance Offered United Health Care is our provider. We have two medical plans, single and family plans, employee is eligible the first day of the month following 60 days of employment. Company pays a portion of coverage.
Dental Insurance Offered 2 dental plan options, single and family plans. Employee eligible the first day of the month following 60 days of employment.
Vision Insurance Offered 2 vision plan options, single and family plans. Employee eligible the first day of the month following 60 days of employment.
Retirement Plan Offered 401K with company match up to 6%. Employee is eligible the first of the month after 90 days of employment.
